As in the 1976 original and the remakes never existed, maybe not even the book, and 2018 was the year we were introduced to this horror icon. Also considering if this modern version was made with the same amount of excellence and style as the original. Would the reaction still be the same as with the original considering all of the recent school shootings?
Many people that have watched the original “Carrie” all say that they felt very sad for Carrie and were happy when her classmates died. I mean, people were literally rooting for Carrie to kill her bullies because of how terrible they treated her. And I must admit, I am one of those people. As the film goes on, Carries treatment becomes worse until it gets to the last straw, and to the point where most of the audience believes that death is a fair punishment for her bullies. But if it was made today, would people still sympathize with Carrie? Would they still root for the death of her classmates? After all, Carrie telekinetically killing everyone at prom is the equivalent of Carrie shooting up her prom.
