I'm a widely-read person, and yes, I know there's a certain stigma around reading YA, even when you write for a living and need to read everything (because that's what writers do). But lately I'm finding that YA fiction is very poorly done and lacks originality in any sense of the word. People are raving about "One Of Us Is Lying," but I guessed the twist halfway through and was not surprised to see the tropes play out as expected.
So...what I'm wondering is this: is it just me, or has YA really gone down the proverbial crapper? I know I'm bound to get a lot of "OMG you have to read THIS one, then!" if I post to a certain book club on Facebook, and even if I put it on Goodreads. So, Reddit, I need your help. Please tell me if I'm alone in this or not.
