A little background, I've been flying constantly for the last 6 months due to a new job. A trend I've noticed is that women wearing khimar/burqa/niqab/other middle eastern womens' headwear have a strong tendency to preboard aircraft. Just today I flew from Minneapolis to Chicago, then Chicago to Dallas. On both flights I watched different groups of women wearing khimar preboard. I understand that you can't always see disabilities, but these women had no difficulties getting on the plane. One of them made me have the awkward "you're sitting in my first-class seat with your economy ticket" conversation with her.
So my question is this: Is there some legitimate cultural thing behind this? Are they just trying to snag first-class/ComfortPlus seats and hope nobody notices?
I have no idea where these women were from. They spoke perfect english but were obviously foreign.
