Which movie is that?
I'm sorry for creating this useless thread but i'm desperated, a few years ago i saw a movie about a american college with a character named Luke that was a jock, Luke's friends raped and recorded a sex scene with a girl and that tape leaked for all the college, and i remember that luke and a nerd girl have a loving relationship and this same girl is who leaked the tape.
I really need to watch this movie again for a paper that i'm doing, maybe this was about a true story, i'm not sure
Thank you all in advance and i'm sorry for any grammar mistakes

Why does every cryo-pod user in movies sleep face up? Does no one prefer sleeping on their stomach?
As someone who sleeps exclusively on my stomach, I get a little annoyed whenever I see that scene in a movie. Y'know, where everyone's in cryopods for the long space journey or whatever. They're ALWAYS laying face up. It defies the odds that not a single person has ever preferred to sleep face down. The literal only example I can cite of this occuring is during the flight to Floston Paradise in The Fifth Element when Leeloo and Dallas are in the sleeping cabins aboard the ship. And that probably only happens because that's how he's oriented when the stewardess engages the sleep system without much warning.

If you haven’t seen Baxter (1989), you are doing yourself a disservice.
“I’d never seen anything so weak.”
Are you really going to miss out on watching a utterly brilliant french horror/dark comedy about a dog with antisocial personality disorder & a boy with conductive disorder that’s (co-)written by Jacques Audiard?
I think not.
”Someday she’ll grow tired of watching the creature, then I’ll push the creature in with the fish and when it’s too late, I’ll call for help.”
”The boy isn’t like the others. He’s taught me lots of sounds. When he wakes up, I can’t move until he makes the calling sound. When he does, it feels like a chain tightening around my neck. It hurts, so I obey. But there’s more to it. It give me... pleasure. The greatest pleasure I’ve ever had. He commands, I obey. And I have no more unnatural thoughts.”
If anyone is thinking of watching this film, it’s on YouTube for free.
I haven’t seen a single person mention it before (on reddit or otherwise), so I thought I’d recommend. If anyone has seen this film, I’d love to talk about it.

What are some PG-13 movies that were originally supposed to be rated R?
I’m genuinely curious, because I was watching Live Free or Die Hard’s unrated version, and it really has that classic Die Hard feel since McClane is always cussing and there’s a ton more blood. and then I read that the unrated version was actually the original version before it got neutered.
Same goes for Central Intelligence- the extended version is so much funnier because it doesn’t hold back on the jokes or cussing, and it’s so much funnier that way. while watching it you can tell it was supposed to be an R rated comedy.
so my question is what are some other movies that are like this?

Im currently in pre production for a mockumentary I am creating, my goal is to create this mockumentary and include a clear three act structure narrative. I am having trouble breaking down films such as 'Borat' and 'Bruno' and how they include a three act structure narrative, Im looking for start, middle, ending and how each of these connect having rising actions and climaxes and all that jazz. Also if anyone has any good Mockumentary/Documentary suggestion that could assist me in my pre-production that would be very helpful. Quick side note if anyone could also note a popular documentary and how that uses the Three act structure that would be very helpful thanks.
Documentaries that I looked at so far (Please leave suggestions)
- Three identical Strangers
Identical triplets become separated at birth and adopted by three different families. Years later, their amazing reunion becomes a global sensation
- Wont you be my neighbour?
Filmmaker Morgan Neville examines the life and legacy of Fred Rogers, the beloved host of the popular children's TV show "Mister Rogers' Neighbourhood."
-Icarus
When filmmaker Bryan Fogel sets out to uncover the truth about doping in sports, a chance meeting with a Russian scientist transforms his story from a personal experiment into a geopolitical thriller
- Bowling for Coloumbine
Political documentary filmmaker Michael Moore explores the circumstances that lead to the 1999 Columbine High School massacre and, more broadly, the proliferation of guns and the high homicide rate in America
Mockumentaries that I have looked at so far (Please leave suggestions)
- What we do in the shadows
Vampire housemates (Jemaine Clement, Taika Waititi, Jonathan Brugh) try to cope with the complexities of modern life.
- Borat
Outrageous situations occur when Borat, a popular reporter (Sacha Baron Cohen) from Kazakhstan, comes to the United States to film a documentary on what makes America a great nation
- Bruno
Blacklisted after crashing a runway presentation, a flamboyant Austrian fashionista travels to the United States, where he hopes to launch a celebrity interview show.
- Who is America
`Who is America?' features Sasha Baron Cohen's first four new characters to hit the screen in 15 years to explore the diverse individuals who make up this unique country
- Dark side of the moon
Dark Side of the Moon is a French mockumentary by director William Karel which originally aired on Arte in 2002 with the title Opération Lune
- All descriptions I summarized from the descriptions you will find when you google the films.

The Void and Lack of (Good) Lovecraftian Horror Films
After having it on my list for some time, I finally sat down tonight and watched The Void.
I will preface this by saying that Lovecraft is my favorite horror author of all time. There has been a serious lack of quality Lovecraftian horror films for quite a while. For whatever reason, horror movies trend more towards ghosts and demons.
That said, I loved this film. I thought that The Void perfectly encapsulated everything Lovecraftian, and paid homage to 80's horror films while doing it.
The practical effects, while somewhat cheesy, were still incredibly done and I would take them over cheap CGI and jump scares any day.
I was surprised to find that The Void only has a 45% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Well, I guess I shouldn't say surprised. I think disappointed is a better way to put it.
In a genre saturated by sequels and mediocrity, I found The Void to be a breath of fresh air.

My Hero Academia: Two Heroes was a great movie, it was shame amc did not put it in a bigger auditorium.
I am guessing because it was a anime movie listed as alternative content. They put it on the smallest screen possible. The max number of people in the auditorium said 105.
I really like the movie i saw it dubbed. It felt like it really did deserve to be on the big screen. It was completely sold out at the theater. The end was so great double detroit smash with deku and all might.

Trying to find a nonexistent movie
I have been trying to find this fucking movie for like 2 hours to no avail. Either this was some extremely vivid daydream/hallucination or some extreme coverup is going on.
So the movie is asian-produced, and I believe it is Chinese. I don't remember all the specific details of the trailer but I think it was basically about a guy who kidnaps this child and he takes the child across the country (Bad Grandpa style) and along the way, they begin to bond (as evidenced in the trailer). I think the movie is a comedy.
There was also a joke where the guy teaches the kid a martial arts stance and the kid hits the guy accidently?
Please help before I lose my mind.
EDIT: There was also a woman? I'm not sure what her role is. I'm not even sure if any of this information is even correct. But I just remember a chinese/asian child actor. I'm pretty sure they were speaking chinese.

Movie recommendation where a character has a deceased parent/parents?
Hi everyone,
I’m doing a research project exploring the impact of early parental death on an individual and how this affects their relationships/mental health as adults (or even teenagers). I need to find a few movies I could watch that fit this theme so I can analyze them for the paper I’ll be writing! If anyone has any suggestions I’d be very appreciative.
I do have one TV show I’m going to write about, which is ‘End of the F***ing World’ where the protagonist’s mother committed suicide when he was a child and by the time the show begins he’s pretty mentally disturbed as he seeks out a relationship with a classmate. Trying not to do any more TV series (hence the subbredit) but something along those lines would be great! Also I’m not seeking movies where the parent dies during the timeframe the movie takes place, as I’m looking for more of the effects of it later in that character’s life.
Again, I’d love to hear any suggestions you all have!

Well done depictions or mental illness?
So a fairly big topic these days is the misrepresentation of the mentally ill. I recently listened to a student presentation about all the negative portrayals in film and tv but she failed to acknowledge any times it’s been well done. Is there any show/movie that does a good job with their portrayal of mental illness in your opinion?

Do you find it worth your time going to theaters anymore?
For me, I only see 2-3 movies at the theater due to being tired of people always on their phones or being disruptive (kicking my seat, talking, etc). Given the quick turnaround for home release (or download), my family prefers to just stay at home. No traffic, no pricks at the movies, no inflated prices that almost cost the same as the blu-ray, can eat all the snacks we want.
EDIT: I take the kids to watch the can't miss blockbusters, such as Infinity War or Incredibles 2. The rest, I just download or borrow the blu-ray from a friend. Last two times I said something to disruptive moviegoers (one guy recording the movie on his phone, another using loud profanity constantly), I had to take my kids and leave (movie recording guy threatened to fight me, no problem, just not in front of my kids). My movie experiences are becoming more jaded.

What movie is this?
It's a low budget horror film about a group of people who get invited to a house and get trapped. They are forced to play a game by magician where they have to try and make it out. They end up getting killed off one by one. [spoiler] A girl that was with the group turned out to be the magicians daughter and was in on it.

Final Destination 3 is insane
What is even happening in this movie? There’s a scene with a guy shooting pigeons in a home depot with a nailgun, numerous references to 9/11, a topless scene with two girls who are later described as not yet 18, and a guy who says fuck you to Benjamin Franklin.
I think I’m on a of list having seen this.

A Movie that Explores the Persona Exemplified by Peter Parker in Parts of Spider Man 3
I recently re-watched Spider Man 3, a childhood favorite. I was 7 when it came out. The movie overwhelms you with subplots, fails to effectively juggle its trio of antagonists, and is sometimes just really bad and stupid, like when James Franco disappears from a cafe in broad daylight within 2 seconds. In spite of all that, I love what happens to Peter his suit gets infected, even though most people hate seeing Peter that way. It's an incredible mix of character traits. He takes on a kind of emo look, he tries to become a womanizer with partial success, he becomes wildly extroverted while still being bizarre and awkward (the dancing and finger guns), and he turns more aggressive. I'd love to see a movie with a character just like that, only it has to be an all-around better movie than Spider Man 3.

I just watched Awakenings (1990) with Robin Williams and Robert De Niro. What a great movie, and a great subject matter. I was amazed that this was based on true events. Can someone tell me what I didn't get about Oldboy?
I just watched Oldboy because I heard it was really good. I definitely don't think it's bad, because on a technical level it's really good. I just came out of it feeling incredibly disturbed. It fucked with my head on a level no other movie has. Again, I don't think it's a bad film, but the story is so fucked up that I would have a very difficult time recommending that someone watch it. If I had known I was going to come out of it feeling shell-shocked, I probably wouldn't have watched it.

Any suggestion for movies that is similar to War of the Worlds, The Mist, and Cloverfield?
Looking for some end of the world movies that is similar to those movies. I love those movies where suddenly an unnatural apocalypse happened. And despite the government best effort they can't stop what's going on and everyone have to care for their life. The movie normally follows the main characters around to explained what have actually happened and see the world around him. Sorry if it is too vague.

Hold The Dark discussion!
Jeremy Saulnier’s new horror/thriller Hold The Dark drops on Netflix tonight. I’m a huge fan of Jeremy and think his films are absolutely captivating and chilling. Blue Ruin was a phenomenal indie thriller, and Green Room was such a claustrophobic and terrifying experience. His new film is set in the middle of nowhere Alaskan Wilderness and follows a man (Russel Core) who is hired to track down the wolves who killed her son, hopefully before her husband returns from war in the middle east, but strange events turn a simple mystery into a very unpleasant horror.Wanted to make a thread to discuss anything and everything about his new work!

Avengers 1 - Why didn't Loki brainwash Nick Fury?
When Loki shows up in the first Avengers movie he starts off by brainwashing Barton, Selvig, and some other random Shield dude. Imo it seems retarded that he didn't brainwash director Fury.
The only other people who were down there when he shot him were the other brainwashed folks. Fury could have easily pretended he was fine, gone back to shield, and done Lokis dark bidding from the inside. Seems like having the man in charge of your main antagonists as a mindless pawn would be invaluable. That would have really screwed up the whole thing.
All in all it seems like Loki could have saved himself a whole bunch of trouble by using his little scepter on Fury rather than his gun. I know it's a small detail in a - let's say - not quite intellectual popcorn movie; and I know the answer is "Plot", but still...whenever I notice something like this it makes it just a little harder to ignore the little Simpson's "genius at work" guy voice in my head that wants to say "boy I hope someone got fired for that blunder".

I don't know why anyone would see "Bad Times at the El Royale."
having the word "the" twice in a row shows a complete ignorance of grammar, so with a title that bad why would you expect the rest of the movie to be well-written? But then, I thought no one would see the movie "Crazy Rich Asians" because it had such a god awful title. Makes me sad that marketing has more of an impact on a movie's success than the quality of the writing. At least the title "Bad Times at the El Royale" only gives a general overview of the plot of the movie, whereas "Crazy Rich Asians" leaves nothing to the imagination.
Still, if they had titled the movie "Bad Times at El Royale" it would have made me want to see it. When a movie's title is so important, why does Hollywood keep dropping the ball?

Films that don’t underestimate the audience’s intelligence?
Not sure how to phrase it, but I’m essentially looking for examples of films that don’t underestimate the audience’s intelligence. Perhaps films that show 1 and 1 and assume/give credit that the audience can figure out they add up to 2. An example I can think of is how in 2001: A Space Odyssey, Kubrick knows that the audience can figure out that HAL was reading lips (even before being explicitly mentioned). Not sure if my explanation makes sense, but would appreciate any input!

Can we get some love for “The Even Stevens” movie?
If you haven’t watched it yet, just know it’s one of Shia labeouf’s best movies and a precursor to the success he has today. I fell in love with the tv show growing up and when this movie released on Disney I watched it over and over.
I was recently drinking with a friend and saw it was on demand for free and we sat through its entirety laughing just as much as I remembered I did when I first saw it.
It is genuinely funny and Disney simply doesn’t make movies like this anymore. I know this probably reads like a shit post but I’m telling you this movie is worth a watch if you want some nostalgia and a glimpse into Shia’s upcoming.
It truly is one of the great Disney movies. Next to Smart House and Luck of the Irish.

The storyline of mob movies
Alright, I was thinking about this before, so here it goes.... ( the actors play the same characters in every movie)
It all starts with “ Casino”, the characters are exactly the same, and ends with Joe pesci’s character getting killed by billy bats.
This is when things start to get freaky, weird wacky and wild. Joe peschi gets re-encatnated as a look alike of himself, at this point billy bats is locked up for the suspected murder of Joe , and Robert deniro started his own gang, post “ casino”. The movie goes exactly the same, up until when joe peschi wants to kill billy, Joe has a flash back of billy and his crew beating and killing him and his brother, and looses it. Of course, Robert plays it cool, and goes along with Tommy’s plan. The movie plays out the same up until joe peschi gets whacked. Robert knew that tommy was starting to catch onto things, and ratted tommy out to bats’ crew to get him whacked for the second time. Robert also thinks that ray liotta knows something, so Robert wants ray to get whacked too, but ray goes into PC just before this can happen, ray liotta later went on to become a popular bee honey distributer , and Robert De Niro later went on to have a son in the Bronx, which he tried his hardest to keep away from the Mafia.

Alien Movies Out of Order?
Sitting here watching Alien Covenant and I can’t help to think how much better this would have been if it came out before Prometheus?? Think about the scene where they land on Planet 4 and discover E. Shaw’s badge. That would add so much mystery to the events that happened before then we get Prometheus, which is answering questions without creating a whole bunch of new ones...[edit: typos]

Where can i buy downloables movies in UHD/4k?
Hi Everyone ,
I want to ask if anyone could help me out with a website or service where I can buy digital(uhd/4k) version of movies that I can then download into my computer.
I need to be able to download the actual file (.mpeg,.Avi,.mov,mkv..etc) to be able to imported in to my editing software , not like Googe play that you buy the movie and.can download it but just watch it inside the app.
I'm doing a project and I need high res footage of a few movies ( recent ones, from 2017) to get a few shot and do some commentary. And some editing.
I know I could maybe find a torrent or something, but I don't want to pirate these movies , I actually want to pay and be able to download them but I have found it very hard to find a place to do so.
PS: I'm trying to avoid going to a store and getting the actual Blu-ray disc , first because I don't have a Blu-ray player and second I'm hoping to find a service that is more convenient.
So if anyone could help me out I would really appreciate it.
PS2: I live in Canada
Thanks

The main thing I'm hoping for from Creed II that the first movie didn't deliver.
A one-on-one scene between Rocky and Mary Anne Creed.
Just to make sure, I watched through the deleted scenes of Creed, and there's not even a "Departed-style" phone scene. I think this scene needs to happen. The last movie made it clear how Mary Anne felt about boxing, and there's a deleted scene where you can feel how angry she still is at Rocky.
In Creed, Mary Anne talks about what she went through after Apollo died, and Adonis says they haven't talked since the funeral. Now that she knows Rocky has felt similar loss with Adrian (and Pauly) and many years have past, maybe she can forgive him for agreeing to let Apollo fight (not that he really had a choice).
It could manifest in several ways, but that's just a scene I would love to see.

Moneyball is soooo good...
I’ve loved Moneyball for years, this isn’t some new realization or anything.
Earlier tonight, I had a splitting headache and just generally felt like crap, so I decided to put a movie on and lay in bed. I went through my library, looking for a talk-heavy movie, no action (loud noises) or anything with jarring music cues... and I decided on Moneyball because I haven’t watched it in at least a year.
I thought it would just be background noise that I might be able to fall asleep to... but it sucked me in just the same as it did the first time. By the end I was fully invested and wiping tears from my eyes.
It is one of the few dozen capital-p Perfect films that I know of. It can’t be improved!
I just love feeling this way after rediscovering something and/or finding out something holds up after a long time.

There’s just something about her. Her face is soothing. It’s sexy and nurturing at the same time. Marriage material if you will. Obviously she was gorgeous in her younger days. Also her voice. It’s just so........pleasant. You feel like you’ve known her your entire life. Probably because you’ve grown up watching her in Animal house, Indiana Jones, Star man, and most recently White Irish drinkers. Even as an older actress she has an aura that I just connect with.

Obscure Spanish(??) movie
Hello, I am in desperate need of help!
I need help finding the title of this Spanish movie (or maybe Portuguese)! It's either a movie released in the theater, or a made for TV movie. It's most likely made for TV (Movie Madness in Portland didn't know about it). And it would have aired sometime in the mid- to late 90s. My dad and I watched it together so we definitely know it exists. And we were living in France at the time.
So a guy is about to get married, and the night before his wedding, his friends get him really drunk and put him on a train leaving Barcelona (my dad is convinced it's Barcelona). Of course, he wakes up in the middle of nowhere and has to figure out how to get back in time for his wedding. On the way, he meets this blonde woman who's very rebellious. A specific scene is when they're both in a restaurant, and these asshole guys riding motorcycles show up. The man and woman have no transportation so she steals the bikers' keys. She manages to get him back in time for his wedding, but of course, he's fallen in love with her, and backs out of marrying his brunette fiancée.
DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR TO ANYONE?? Please, good people of Reddit! We've been searching for this movie for about twenty years now!

Beavis and Butt-Head: Do America vs. The Simpsons Movie?
Which is the better film in your opinion?
I am a die hard fan of both series, (The Simpsons seasons 1-10 only) and I think I kinda hated The Simpsons Movie. It felt more like modern Family Guy light, like the series has felt like for a long time and I thought the sentimental weight of the subplots fell flat and were uninspired. Like, Marge ain't gonna leave Homer and Homer had actually done far worse in the course of the series and Marge barely cares. It's a lesson Homer had learned in the earliest of seasons.
Meanwhile, Beavis and Butt-Head: Do America, holds up and is still funny. It really captures the shows spirit and is just a charming little movie and I would say it an underrated flick and I think it might be my favorite Mike Judge flick.
What says you?

Let’s talk about silent scenes...
Okay movie lovers, I was watching Annihilation the other day and loved the fact that 10+ minutes elapse at the climax without any dialogue at all.
I thought of some other good examples of similar uses of silence and purely visual storytelling like Ex Machina, 2001, Alien, The Third Man, Another Earth, Black Swan, Last of the Mohicans, Sicario, No Country for Old Men, There Will be Blood, The Village. I’d even consider the Broadway Melody from Singin in the Rain. Atonement’s beach tracking shot is in contention as well, but there is singing there, so...
So what can you all come up with to add to the list...
There are rules though... no montages. They have to be full scenes that play out with no dialogue. Also, it can’t be from a silent film or be a key part of the plot (A Quiet Place, The Tribe, etc.)
I like it when directors trust their audiences enough not to jam unnecessary lines into the film. Characters don’t have to talk to themselves. There doesn’t have to be voice over. Just let a gripping scene play out wordlessly.

Basically a French Butt washer.
So the three shells? Well the technology had to be more advanced. It would make no sense to fumble around with the 3 shells, or detach them.
The 3 Shells are three stages, that work from the tiolet itself.
So Theoretically how would they work?
1) Stage one could be a new type of technology that may attach dry matter onto the Anus. Causing attachment to the fecal matter.
2) Stage two, the second shell or button, when pressed, releases a second substance that causes the fecal matter now combined with the first substace to drop off.
3) The third stage would be a nice dry clean. Who knows, maybe even a nice puff of a baby powder type substance, to make ya feel fresh, and a sprinkle of a nice smelling odor.
And vualla... The shells are buttons to 3 stages of how to keep your bum clean.
