It completely blows my mind that the first Jurassic World has a higher metacritic score than the sequel.
I'm 29 so the Jurassic Park movies were basically something I watched infinite times growing up. In my opinion Jurassic World 2 is the best sequel to the original. The pacing was excellent, the cast were all very believable and portrayed fun characters, and it built the lore out quite a bit. I am hard pressed to think of one thing I didn't enjoy. I feel like The Lost World had a great first act and then the rest of the film fell apart, the third one didn't have any likeable characters, a weak story, and was visually underwhelming. The first Jurassic World focused too much on the unlikeable brothers, and dropped you into the park within what seemed like seven minutes into the picture. Jurassic World 2 spent time building the tension and developing the characters so by the time the action starts you have a reason to care. Everyone had good chemistry, and I love James Cromwell as Hamonds business partner. Most importantly it seemed like a Jurassic Park movie.
I have a soft spot for The Lost World due to my love of Ian Malcolm, but if I'm being honest Jurassic World 2 is loads better than the other sequels. I feel it really captures a good amount of the movie magic that made the first one a success, while avoiding the feel of a retread.
