I was having a discussion with my dad over Xmas dinner about the oscars and how we both feel they are losing their prestige.
It seems to both of us that is oscars are awarded to films and actors/actresses who are ‘worthy’ for it rather than the measure of weather the film is good or popular (I do know that popularity is No measure of quality). In a sense, it awarded to people who’s ‘turn’ it is for one.
Also, I feel the timing of films releases has an unfair bias on the Oscar winners, films that are released in November/December time are far more likely to win then a film that would be released in June.
