Just got around to watching it, and while I liked the story and the vision, I couldn't help but wonder how it would have played out if instead of Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling we'd have had two relatively unknown, but decent actors with proper training in singing/dancing — I'm sure there's no shortage of them.
What do you guys think? Did the star power help the movie get critical acclaim, or could it have stood alone on pure talent?
ETA: Just wanted to clarify that I enjoyed the film and I think both leads do a very good job with what they were given in terms of practice time. This is more of a hypothetical "what if" post (maybe the ending is subconsciously influencing me ;)).
