Left home at 17 and haven't had a lot to do with my family since they moved interstate but have kept in light contact. I have a younger sister who is 8 and after talking to my father over the phone I have learnt that she isolates herself at school during play time in the library and doesn't have many friends. I believe she was held back a year due to their interstate move and is older than most kids in her class and she is on the heavier end of the scale although she has started working out regularly to lose wieght. She is also really interested in technology - i think. What can I do to encourage her to make friends and to understand why she may be isolating herself? I am planning to move to be closer to her to build a better relationship with her but for the next 12 months I am stuck 1500kms away studying.
Any advice is welcome. Any parents who have dealt with a similar child I would love to hear how you handled it. Thanks in advance :)
