Just wanted to give a shoutout to this movie. I had very low expectations, but just watched it with my kids (6 and 9), and we all loved it. Even squeezed out a few tears throughout the movie.
It's a very well-done kids film with a decent bit of history thrown in. Obviously they do not linger on the absolute horror that was WWI, but they present it in such a way as to resonate with children. The animation was great, the characters were all lovable, and my kids immediately went and read whatever they could find about Stubby on Wikipedia, and even spun off to wanting to learn more about what WWI was like for the soldiers of both sides. It was a rare and unexpected treat.
