I just watched the Extended Edition of "The Return of the King" for the first time, and I have to say, I vastly prefer the theatrical cut. I thought the pacing was completely messed up, and the scenes that were added (with the exception of Saruman's death) weren't that great or necessary. I felt a similar way about the "Two Towers" Extended Edition, again, with the exception being the flashback setting up Denethor, Boromir and Faramir's motivations. I haven't seen the Extended Edition for "Fellowship" yet.
Does anyone else feel the same way as me? I feel like I'm in the minority. Honestly, for the extended edition of "Return of the King", I would have prefered the theatrical cut stay exactly the same, but with the Scouring of the Shire added on at the end. Yes, I know that would have made the ending even longer, but it would add such an important theme that's only hinted at in the movie's current form.
