Looking for a specific fight
I’m trying to find a specific fight I saw here about 1-2 months ago. It was surveillance footage overlooking a public square at night. Three dudes were harassing a woman and a smaller guy. They try to walk off, and one of the three, a bald dude, follows them.
Then a bystander, a big motherfucker, sees it and steps in the way to stop him from following. I think he pushes big guy. Big guy knocks him cold in one punch.
It ends with another camera where big guy throws two of them into a wall.
Thanks in advance.

Foreign special forces films
So, can you think of any foreign films that feature their special forces? Like say any Australian films that feature the SASR or French films that feature their special forces or Danish films that depict the Jaegerkorpset. I'm just curious how the director portrays their SOF units. Whether it's very similar to how a US action film might portray ours or maybe there's more layers/subtext to it.

Do we have actors/actresses from all over right now competing for top roles? Is it easier today for an actor like Christoper Waltz getting roles and becoming an A-lister than say 50-60 years ago? Are foreign filmmakers having an easier road to the top of the industry today or was it far more likely for them decades ago?

Or would the universe explode? I'm imagining a film similar to a Heat where you put 2 of the best actors of their generation going head to head. When I watch a movie or a tv show, is everything I see scripted?
I’m re-watching Better Call Saul and one scene Kim is smoking a cigarette on top of a car garage and I realized every car parked on the street or driving was period appropriate to the show. Originally I figured they were just shooting the scene with live traffic in the background, but I can’t imagine there was one more modern car there. Everything seemed so natural too, with how people were crossing the street and everything.
Is this all scripted? Some crafty dusting of true footage? Or I’m just gullible and its CGI for some reason?
Another one I was wondering was an episode later they’re at the US-Mexico border. Obviously they’re not shooting at an actual border stop, but where and how do they film scenes like this? Empty space somewhere that Hollywood owns so they can build a set and film? Pay the police/municipality to reroute traffic for a bit so they can shoot? How do shows and movies shoot scenes on roads like this?

With How to Train your Dragon coming out, and this recent conversation I’ve had with a friend who said it looked stupid (because it was a “kids” movie). I just get reminded of how often I’ve had this conversation at least once a year with someone.

First trailer for Ayka, a film by Sergey Dvortsevoy. (Shortlisted for best foreign film at the Oscars, and winner of best actress at Cannes)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsKZzGWvJW4
I was at the Cannes film festival last year and really regret passing up the chance to see this one, especially when lead actress Samal Yeslyamova won the Best Actress prize unanimously. I think it’s such an important story that you’d hardly see outside of Russia. It’s about a Kazakh woman living illegally in Moscow. She survives on her wits after fleeing from the hospital she just gave birth to her daughter in. It didn’t end up moving on from the shortlist for the Oscars, which is a shame because I think they would’ve given this movie the publicity it deserves. Still have my fingers crossed for a North American release! Maybe Criterion will pick it up for a release. Anyway, I just wanted to share the trailer! Let me know what you guys think.

Books & Adaptations.
So, this morning I learn that my favorite book, H.G. Wells’ “The Invisible Man”, is being adapted by the folks at Blumhouse and Directed by Leigh Whannell (Insidious 3, & Upgrade).
My thoughts on this is a sigh of relief, because it was originally slated to be apart of the ‘Dark Universe’, and was originally going to Star Johnny Depp as The Invisible One. Thank God, this isn’t happening, because it would’ve most likely become an action film.
Whannell’s work impressed with the two films under his belt. He made a competent “Insidious” installment and “Upgrade” was a great science fiction film. I’m hoping that he can bring the story back to it’s roots and adapt the story as it was or at least capture the essence of the book.
Overall, I’m excited about the adaptation but I’m cautiously optimistic about the whole thing. I’m going to have to see the direction that this is going.
So my final question to you guys is this: “What is the book you want adapted properly?”

Review Megathread: Cold Pursuit
Rotten Tomatoes: 90%
Metacritic: 67/100
Written Reviews:
”Cold Pursuit” might have all the trappings of those junky late-era Liam Neeson movies where the aging Irish actor murders a small army of people like some kind of AARP-eligible Rambo, but Hans Petter Moland’s mordantly hilarious comic thriller doesn’t wait long to defile expectations. The fact that it opens with an Oscar Wilde quote should be enough to confuse anyone who’s bracing for another tedious riff on “Taken.” The quote reads: “Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go,” and while that may seem like a pretentious little preamble for a film that features Neeson shooting a bridal shop clerk in the face with a sawed-off sniper rifle, it turns out to be the perfect table-setting for a fiendishly entertaining, pitch-black revenge story about a decent man who develops a violent knack for being the worst the worst part of anyone’s day.
This is an unexpectedly hilarious movie. The original film was something of a comedy-in-disguise as well. This version, perhaps if only due to the localized nature of many of the jokes (there’s a reference to the sad Cleveland Browns that slew me) had me laughing even harder. It’s not that the film is full of pratfalls or sight gags so much Baldwin’s dialogue is so specific and so lived-in that it becomes a ghoulish pleasure to watch these people talk to each other.
Chris Nashawaty - Entertainment Weekly
If [Cold Pursuit] sounds like murder-by-numbers Liam Neeson Mad Libs, well, it kind of is. But what sets Cold Pursuit apart from its predecessors is its tone. It has the jokey, self-amused vibe of an Elmore Leonard novel or one of those arch, wannabe Tarantino knock-offs that sprouted up like toadstools in the wake of Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction and were quickly forgotten. It knows exactly what kind of movie it is, but that doesn’t stand in the way of it goosing its bloodbath set pieces with irreverent, off-kilter gallows humor.
Both the action and the comic elements in “Cold Pursuit” work reasonably well. Neeson can do justifiable homicide in his sleep by this point, but it’s still fun to watch him dispatch goons and scumbags. And most of the film’s gags land, particularly Viking’s helicopter-parent preoccupation with his son’s diet and the pokes at proper language when referring to indigenous peoples. It’s the combo of dark humor and violence where the movie never quite reaches a balance. To be too jokey removes the stakes of the killings, and to be too grotesquely violent makes the laughs catch in the throat. This isn’t an impossible mix, as the Coens and other filmmakers have proven over the years, but Moland and Baldwin fall a bit short.
That's not to say that Cold Pursuit doesn't also possess a wicked sense of humor. The over-the-top characters, and Coxman's shocking ease of blood vengeance, are both sources of dark, sardonic laughter. There is a great deal of quirk at play in Cold Pursuit, a quality perhaps more openly enjoyed by '90s indie junkies like myself. Action aficionados may be frustrated by Cold Pursuit, especially after the action-packed first act; Those first few kills are undeniably awesome. But this is not a Taken-like shoot-'em-up. It's a weary contemplation of old men and their waning roles in criminal spheres. With Cold Pursuit, Moland, and perhaps Neeson as well, appear to be closing the book on a certain type of revenge thriller that has been Neeson's stock in trade for the last 11 years. We've had a lot of fun, but Cold Pursuit argues that it's okay to mourn the passing of a genre now.
“Cold Pursuit” isn’t concerned with being the type of non-stop action vehicle where Neeson utilizes elaborate fight choreography and does complicated stunt work. This film’s brutality is grounded in reality. Sure, the unrelenting tension mounts into a climactic shootout, but the rest of the picture is more akin to the razor-sharp precision and gallows humor of “Fargo” than the merciless vigilantism of “Taken.”
Michael Phillips - Chicago Tribune
The movie delivers, in its chosen way. But it’s a soulless way. The violence may be for laughs, and many Neeson fans will likely respond to the larky brutality of “Cold Pursuit,” which is very different from the star’s previous mid-winter vehicles (“The Grey” is my favorite). But I don’t get much psychic recreation from this sort of action movie. In the original, Stellan Skarsgard played the avenging snow angel, and with him, at least, you got the sense of a solid if vaguely unsettling citizen unraveling, by degrees, one killing at a time. With Neeson it’s different: He’s like the wedge at the front of his own plow, taking care of business efficiently, and not for a moment anything resembling human.

So mutants were massacred by sentinels. And then the world was given a second chance, only for humans to carry out the genocide again with genetically modified corn.
If you consider Logan as the end of the franchise, mutants were in no better position than the first class. Despite all the efforts, no progress was made in getting mutants and humans living peacefully together.

Trying to find an alien invasion movie from my childhood!
Sorry if this doesn’t follow the guidelines, just let me know and I’ll take it down.
So as near as I remember the premise is: Start of the movie a school bus of high school kids get beamed up by aliens. 3 teens start getting attacked and chased by the aliens They find out they are actually reincarnations of aliens that had their planet harvested, but before they died they figured out how to destroy the harvesters so sent their ships and their consciousnesses to earth They acquire their lost memories and ships and destroy the alien invader ships The harvester aliens are 20 foot long spider ewwws that seed life on viable planets to come back millions of years later to start “ranching” them for food.
I remember watching this movie as a teenager (1998-2005 ish) and none of my friends have even heard of it, but I can’t seem to find any evidence that it even existed? Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance

Gone Baby Gone ethical debate and discussion.
Obviously SPOILERS for the movie Gone Baby Gone (GBG). I wanted to start a discussion and see how you folks felt about the ending and overall plot of the movie, as it left me with emotional turmoil and an ethical conundrum. Through the twisting and turning story of the film we find out quite a harrowing tale of suffering for the involved children, some direct, some implied, and at the end we are met with a question of Titanic importance: what can one do when presented with two equal but opposite sides of what is right?
How did you interpret the morality of the characters? (Namely Morgan Freeman, Ed Harris, and Casey Afleck?)
Was the mother deserving of her child in the end no matter what? Is that always the case?
Given the choice what would you do: keep the truth a terrible secret of what happened that night for the child to have a better chance at life or reveal the truth and reunite the mother and child back into a questionable home life?

Cold War discussion
I saw this movie earlier tonight and I gotta say I was impressed. The direction and the cinematography were outstanding, the writing was great, and then the pacing was... not great. I really thought the movie was good but the pacing prevented me from really enveloping myself in the story, it just felt like a sequence of events. This was the only part I was really disappointed with, does anyone else feel the same?

My thoughts on Universal and Blumhouse collaboration in rebooting The invisible man
Hearing the news that Universal is about to restart the dark universe franchise but with the collaboration with Blumhouse as they will do a reboot of the Invisible man with director Leigh Whannell in charge but will not star Johnny Depp (which is great for those who don't want depp to portray) .
The part of me thinks that this is great because Blumhouse is known for its awesome low budget horror films so with its collaboration with Universal they will make a terrifying reboot that will be faithful to the original as the original universal monsters franchise is known for its horror roots unlike the 2017 mummy movie which is unfaithful to its predecessors roots.
But the other part of me feel skeptical because if Universal needs to improve the Dark universe now that they collaborate with Dark universe, then they need to make sure that the invisible man reboot will be faithful to its 1933 predecessors horror roots,The film must not be connected to the 2017 mummy film along with its cinematic universe plans ,the 'Prodigium' plot must be removed and it should be standalone but with little Easter eggs from the Universal monsters franchise because if Universal needs to improve the dark universe then they should sever its ties to the 2017 mummy movie because it was terrible to many and is unfaithful to its predecessors the universal monsters roots that is horror and if it does, I think Dark universe should be renamed with a different name probably Universal dark horrors or something.
Anyway lets hope universal's collaboration with Blumhouse will help revive the universal monsters franchise with the Dark Universe or at least a different name with Leigh Whannell's take on the invisible man.

Hair in sport?
Okay so i play a contact sport which obviously includes tackling. I used to have my hair in a man bun but decided to cut it off. My hair is medium length and i can't tie it up anymore. I need to do something with it while playing. I am looking at wearing headbands but i'm not sure if they will come out if my head gets hit or something. Any suggestions/input would be highly appreciated.

well I am thinking of adopting a mini rabbit or bird or dog, and buy a plant to complement, so I wanted to know if you have pros and cons in adopting a pet and buying plant, because in a few months, I will have the routine calm and I have free time to take care of my pet, but sometimes there are days when I leave home to go with my family, I also have vacations (it's going to be once a year) that I'm going back to the city where I was born for Christmas and the year new and then I go back to my current city so I am researching a lot about mini rabbit, bird, dog but wanted to know what is best for me because I love caring for animals because without caring for animals and plants gets bored thanks for reading. ps:I want a pet that is cost-beneficial
ps: sorry for bad English because I have to use google translate.

What does it mean when companies provide a "local" and a "toll-free" number? Why do they do this?
So I often see a company having a "local" number with the local area code and a "toll free" number, typically 1-800 or something along those lines. So what does this mean? Is the "toll-free" number one that could be called for free back in the payphone days?
Here's a random example for anyone who's curious: https://warrantech.com/contact-us/

Beyonce's song no one used to make me nauseous is, is there a reason?
I remember when I was 5 or 6 the tv was on and what I assume to be the music video for no one was playing but the only thing that's sticks to my mind is this featureless person covered completely in black liquid in this dark room and hearing the music just made me nauseous. I dont dislike any of Beyonce's songs but this one for some reason made me sick to my stomach. I even remember hearing it being covered in the second Alvin and the chipmunks movie and feeling a little sick and for the longest time it was like that for me but now that I'm 15 it seems to have stopped. I wonder if anyone could explain why that happened.

Not sure if I'm hired or not at Value Village?
So I applied to Value Village for a part time job during the school year. I went to both of the interviews and they said that I was a great fit and they loved me. Then, I never heard back. I called twice and was told that someone would call me later if I was to be hired, but they believe that I was on the hire list.
On the website, it says "accepted offer" on my application status for January 25. It is now Jan 28. What does this mean?
I plan on calling again, but I don't want to be annoying.

Should I be worried?
This is more of a cry for help then a simple question. I’ve been asking my friends and family about this for a while yet nothing has come up so I’ve come to reddit to see if any one shares my experience or has any input on the whole situation. I’m new here so if this ends up posted in the wrong subreddit or page please forgive me and bare with me as updates may be slow.
I’ve lived in my house for around 6 months now since I got out of university and moved out from my parents place. Everything is fine with the house itself and it’s honestly a beautiful place. The problems started around 1 months ago when I found a small blank piece of paper in the holes of my front screen door. There were no words on it, and no lines were there either. Just plain sketching paper. Of course I brushed this off and made my way to work in the morning. About 2-4 days later the same thing occurred and from what I remember it had been placed in the exact same place as the other had been. My neighbourhood is a very clean one so finding an odd piece of trash near your door is not something that is common.
Other then being a little paranoid I once again brushed it off. After another about 3 days another paper was resting in the same spot, yet this one was blood red, still bare, just a plain bold red colour. Now me being a young 23 year old girl, I was getting rather worried. I understand that it is a very minor thing but it was just really confusing. So, after another red card appear I went to the extent of putting in a security camera in my front lawn. When 2-4 days pasted I checked the feed and the weirdest thing I noticed through this time was a normal looking vehicle approach my house at around 2 in the morning before leaving in what looked like a hurry. I know this is not any sustainable evidence but I’m just worried. No more strange notes have turned up since though the car had returned two more times, slowing down as it passed my house.
If anyone has any advice or has had the same experience, any input would be greatly appreciated.

Should I keep people from my past blocked, or unblock them to show myself I am over the situation and can handle contact from them healthier than before?
Not sure what other people’s blocked lists looks like, but I feel as though mine are kinda long. I am a firm believer in out of sight out of mind, and it seems to work for me. Through the years I have racked up a long list of blocked accounts and blocked numbers. Some of my friends say I shouldn’t be this way. I don’t think it stems from bitterness. For a while I thought if interacting with someone online or hearing from them via text or call made me very upset it made sense to block them and move on. Now that I’m a bit older I wonder if maybe I’m taking the easy way out. I feel like now I can handle these problems better than I did before before. Should I keep these people blocked (if it ain’t broke don’t fix it) or unblock them and handle life as it comes, trying to be more adult by either just ignoring them or explaining to them why they haven’t heard from me. OR am I just subconsciously curious about who still isn’t over me.... yikes
What provoked this question is a situation I just experienced. I deleted an ex flame’s number, but didn’t block him. About a year later he text me. I asked who it was, he said “Joe” (not his real name). I said Joe who? because his name is actually fairly common. He responded “Joe from [University]”. I told him the reason I deleted his number was because he treated me badly while we dated. I said thanks for reaching out but please don’t try to contact me anymore. He then proceeded to pretend to be someone else. He said “I’m Joe from THE BAR. You must have been so drunk you don’t remember” and then tried to fake slut shame me with a situation that never happened. Around that time I had been very serious about school and had hardly gone out at all, not to mention the fact that I have never blacked out in my life. I looked on my computer, where I have all texts saved and the number texting me was in fact Joe, my old flame.
I understand he was in the wrong here, and that was a psycho thing to do. I was proud of how I handled the situation, but to be honest it made me pretty upset for a few days. That’s why I’m asking to begin with. Thanks everyone

Good movies with terrible deleted scenes
I’m sitting here watching LOTR The Two Towers extended edition (RT 95%)...which I do from time to time because I love both trilogies...and one of the things that I really appreciate in the extended edition is how truly awful some of the deleted scenes are.
Most notably is a scene during a very somber point in the movie (people of Rohan leaving their homes to go die in Helm’s Deep). The music is very sad, the landscape is very dreary, the dialogue preceding the scene is about Eowyn’s childhood (father murdered mother died from plague) and everything is bleak. We then jump to a ridiculous scene where she offers stew she has made to Aragorn. The stew is terrible and he almost spits it out but instead decides to eat it...his facial expressions are straight up physical comedy...he then proceeds to tell her that he is 87 years old!!! What?!
The scene is just awesomely horrible. I was hoping others would post similar horrible scenes in otherwise quality movies. Let’s hear em.

Roma and Steinbeck
Does anyone else get a sort of Steinbeck vibe from the movie? I can't exactly put my finger on what it is. Roma obviously does not focus on landscapes and tremendous commentary on descriptors, but I got a feeling that the tone and cinematography would have been what an author like Steinbeck would have wanted in a film.

Wind River shootout question
Just rewatched Wind River and that fast paced shootout scene was a little too fast to follow even with a rewind.
After the initial shooting someone checks on everyone I lost track of who is who for a moment.
When he asks who's still up(or alive) which 'team' does the guy,who tries to get up but then get shot for speaking up, belong to?
It looks like he's a contractor, but then why would the other contractor shoot his own guy?
The guys badge looks a little different but he doesn't appear to be wearing the sherriff uniform.
Also did the Bureau of Indian Affairs chief live?

Bohemian Rhapsody - honest review
I finally got around to watching the 2018 movie “Bohemian Rhapsody”, and walked away in tears over the fact that...
No movie... of any other artist or band... has made feel the same way about the star character... as I do now.
The hardships that Freddy Mercury faced in his lifetime, proposing to his girlfriend only to have the relationship ended before the marriage, Queen nearly breaking up for good, and even being diagnosed with AIDS before the Live Aid concert, all to have it work out in the end for everyone.
The movie “Bohemian Rhapsody” has made me appreciate Queen more than any other band in history, and I wouldn’t have it any. other. way!!!
Thank you 20th century Fox, for bringing the great tale of Freddy Mercury to the big screen of 2018.
~EDIT~
- I didn’t expect the fallout the would occur post mention the name of the director, so I edited it to what I meant to type.
And 2. I didn’t know the movie wasn’t 100% factually accurate.

What are some movies with a creepy atmosphere and a great buildup?
What I consistently notice when I watch horror films is that they either never scare me (and end up boring me or they extremely intrigue me. The ones that I find to be the best are those that have a creepy atmosphere throughout the film, have a great buildup and make you feel like your losing your mind. The best examples I can give are Halloween and Misery for the buildup and Session 9 and The Shining for the atmosphere/psychological terror aspect. What are some others in this vein that I would enjoy, based off of these films?

Bryan Singer suddenly distancing himself from Bohemian Rhapsody
Don't know if this is the right place to post this but: Bryan Singer has deleted all of his Bohemian Rhapsody behind the scene videos he had posted on his Instagram. For those unaware, he had been posting videos and still pictures from the shooting in the past months and weeks, even after his departure as the movie's director.
I guess this has a lot to do with his latest rape allegations story but the sudden change of heart is strange either way.

Where can I watch Suspiria (2018)?
Jesus Christ. I’m in Australia, this movie was nowhere in any advertisements, extremely limited release and wasn’t in any cinemas near me, it’s not on any streaming sites, I got Amazon Prime just to watch this, it doesn’t allow me to for some reason. I attempted to buy the fucker, said I had to be in the United States.
How are people watching this movie? Legally or illegally? What the fuck?

asking for a friend
[I'd just like answers, not preaching. If the question doesn't belong here then it can be deleted but I didn't know where to turn]
following hypothetical scenario. someone needs to secretly record the room (more specifically the table in front of him), the live feed needs to go out to an accomplice in a car outside the building. That accomplice needs to be able to communicate simple messages (individual letters or numbers) to the person inside, everything needs to be completely silent and invisible. how would one go about that?
More Explanation: basically if someone wanted to cheat on a quiz show, recording the screen with the question in front of him and his partner sending in the correct answers. questions I have are: is there a camera that can produce such a live feed with run time of at least 8 hours, what extra equipment would be needed? how would one send the information back inside, an earpiece is not possible. I was thinking of some sort of device that gives of very slight electric shocks to convey letters or numbers in morse code? is that possible.
any help would be appreciated for this hypothetical idea

What should we talk about at the first meeting of Debate Club?
NOTE: I originally posted this on r/debate, but it turns out it was against their rules, so I copy and pasted it here, in hopes you guys will be a little bit more helpful.
I finally have organized a debate club at my high-school, and our first meeting is this Wednesday. While I have a lot of debate topics, and a substantial amount of people who say will come, I have no idea what we should talk about.
I’m creating this club mainly for two reasons: enthusiasm and fear. I really enjoy conversing with others about existential and philosophical problems, and I hope this club will not only expand my own knowledge, but also to impart on others the same excitement I have for the subject. However, with the current political climate of ad hominem attacks, guilt tripping, and trials by public opinion, I also feel as if we are headed towards another Nazi Germany or USSR, and nobody else seems to be aware of it, nor are they intellectually or morally capable of combating it (not to say I am, of course).
Thus, I wanted to focus our discussions more so on the more metaphysical problems, rather than complicated and science-based problems, so that we, while children, can develop a logically based world view without having to delve deep into the world of studies and statistics, so that if we are able to take even one step towards paradise, or at least one farther away from the atrocities of our past. And while I am aware that data and statistics are hugely important, and that have a bunch of kids just talk about how they feel without regard to facts has its own problems, I feel this is the most reliable way to help people become more aware of just how stupid and evil we are as humans, and at least set us on a more righteous path.
Sadly, while I possess some rather strong emotions regarding this subject, I cannot think of a topic of satisfactory depth or approachability. Instead of something like “good vs. evil” or “does global warming exist and what should we do about it”, I was hoping to find something that straddles the line between metaphysical and specific. For instance, I had some wonderful conversations about “the relationship of sex and marriage”. However, while I enjoy this one, I feel it isn’t worthy of being the topic of the first meeting of a debate club, nor does it seem widely popular with those not interested in debate as much as I.
In conclusion, I’m looking for a topic for something more metaphysically-based and has a considerable appeal to the average person, Or at least something everyone has an opinion on.
Thank you for your suggestions.
P.S.: If I sound a like some self righteous ass, my apologies. It’s not my intention to.

Are people who work at the DMV usually rude/mean?
I never took drivers ed, so I got my permit at the DMV when I was 15 and a half. Then again when it expired and I still wasn't ready for the test...and once more a few years later when I thought I was ready to learn again.
I have terrible anxiety, and tbh no motivation to drive in the past. I drove enough to learn how but I still need to get comfortable. It's the other people on the road that scare me. When I had my permit before, there were too many times a crazy driver almost hit me and made my anxiety worse.
Anyway, now I'm 24 and no longer working with my dad so I need to drive to get a job. I'm just really worried they're going to make me feel shameful and uncomfortable because this is my 4th time getting my permit. Last time I went the lady was really condescending and said "we don't just give these out to everyone ya know" (which uhm..yes they do?).
My anxiety in general and that one experience with that lady has put me off from getting it again. I feel like I have a little more motivation now so while it will be hard, I'm willing to push through and get behind the wheel again.
Sorry for such a long winded explanation. I'm just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience? Did I just encounter the one rude person that works at my DMV or should I expect them to treat me that way since I've had to get it so many times?

Why do I feel so left out
Hey guys , so basically I always feel so left out outside of school. I do have a lot of friends who I talk to a lot at school, but out of school I don’t really talk or text anyone. Even when I sometimes try to make plans with my friends they usually say no or when they do say yes it feels kinda lackluster. Although I’m not entirely upset or depressed or anything like that about not being very social outside of school, it does sometimes feel kinda lonely, yet a lot of the time I feel alright being alone. Am I just a non social person in general? Or am I just that friend who everyone likes having around to a certain extent .

Is M. Night Shyamalan still viewed as a joke? Why was he ever seen that way in the first place?
I know when he first arrived all 20 years ago , 6th Sense got him famous.
Somewhere along the way, his name started becoming a short hand for terrible movie (though i never thought this). The first time i realized this was when i saw the trailer for Devil in the theater, and i think at the end it said a " brough tto you by M Night Shyalaman" or something like that and everyone in the theatre started laughing.
Here are the movies of his that i have watched:
6th Sense - the twist was spoiled for me in a post title on Yahoo! message board , i curse that poster
Unbreakable - Just watched it again tonight, and it still as good as it was when i saw it in 2000
The Village - I really liked this
Signs - this one wasnt his best effort, but still ok.
The Happening - no worse than the Bird Box imo
Devil - i liked it fine, interesting concept
The Visit - it was ok, it kept me entertained
After Earth - Didn't know he did this one, didn't finish it, but seemed ok enough in the beginning.
Lady in the Water - ok this one didnt click with me , and i never go through the opening 20 minutes of it.
I think the dude has some interesting ideas, that he does a good job of translating into a movie. Unbreakable and The Village are probably my favorites. Its too bad for the last i dunno how many years hes become a punchline.
Gonna watch Split, and Glass this weekend. Im sure i will like.

Green Book is not Driving Miss Daisy
To its detractors Green Book is another movie about racism made to make white people feel better about themselves. Hollywood has a long history of depicting white and black friendship where the black character’s role is enlighten the white character’s deeper emotional journey while allowing the audience to feel more cultured leaving the theatre.
The easiest comparison due to the driving theme is Driving Miss Daisy, the 1989 Best Picture winner. However Morgan Freeman’s Hoke is less developed than Mahershala Ali’s Don. Hoke is an illiterate servant, a stereotypical black role. He comes out of nowhere with a past and family barely touched on, and no matter how often Daisy demeans him his reaction is normally a smile, laugh and giving her the acceptance she can’t give him. He is like a pet who is always loving no matter what, save finally speaking up once to ask her to treat him less like a child. The film’s arc is Daisy learning to see past his skin colour as an equal and friend, but it never asks Hoke if it was hard to look past her coldness to accept her. He is the same person by the end of the movie as the start, giving him a less complex journey than his white co-star.
In Green Book Don’s transformation is as rich as Tony’s if not moreso. He must learn to accept himself to get out of his repressed prison of not being black enough, masculine enough, or just enough period. The scenes where Tony introduces Don to fried chicken or Little Richard has been widely criticized, but showing Don is a not a stereotype hardly seems evidence of a racist film compared to the countless ones that just used them. The scenes are also important as later Don reveals he’s ashamed about not being black enough.
Tony learns from Don as well, but it’s as much tapping into his sensitivity writing his letters to his wife as learning about race. He learns he is more than just a dumb bag of meat with knuckles. Tony's views on race aren't perfect as the film begins with him throwing out two cups drank by black repair men, and at one point he ignorantly tells Don he’s more black than him. But in a film filled with other white racist males, he's on the good side. He physically defends Don with a disdain for the racists bothering him. His original objection to driving Don is not wanting to be his butler rather than refusing to drive a black man. The film doesn't hammer home Tony's racism enough to say enlightening him is its primary goal.
Driving Miss Daisy remains a good film. Jessica Tandy and Morgan Freeman give the performance of a lifetime and add richness responding to the other without words, and the directing and score is high quality. But of the two films it’s the bigger offender for writing black roles for the purposes of white enlightenment. One would hope more black roles roles as complex as Ali's Don Shirley continue to be written in future years, whereas despite the best efforts of actors like Freeman the same cannot be said about underdeveloped servant characters like Hoke.

All These Sleepless Nights and the quasi documentary
I want to know what you guys think of the documentary All These Sleepless Nights. I saw it at Sundance 2016 and it really went under the radar. It had a very different form factor for a documentary and it makes you wonder how much of it, if any, was scripted due to its more narrative styled filmmaking.

I was just browsing my movies and stopped at Conan The Barbarian (2011). I know that I definitely watched it, but I could not remember a single thing about it other than Rose McGowan being bald and having claw fingers or something.
Pretty much the same goes for the Thor - The Dark World. I remember there were dark elves in it and Loki may or may not have been imprisoned (might have been from the third movie). That's it.

[IJW] Glass
I just watched Glass starring Sarah Paulson, James McAvoy, Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, and Anya Taylor-Joy. The movie was pretty good, it kept me on the edge of my seat. The acting was pretty good. I think McAvoy deserves an oscar for his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb. Playing a character with DID was probably a hard thing to do. I adored Casey too, because she was strong and resilient even after all the trauma she endured throughout her life.

Horror movie name that i dont remember
Hello, I remember many years ago i watched a horror movie on my dvd and it was scariest movie ive ever watched, but i dont remember the name of it but i know cruical details. So the movie started like this: there was a family who travelled somewhere with the car and someone cut off their tires so they couldn't get home and then the family visited a house where there was woman who had hole on her neck and she got power from the tube that was connected with the neck. And then there was monster human with horrofic chains on his body everywhere and he tried to kill the family and at the end there was a cop who tried to kill daughter and then daughter took a gun and killed him and got away. Maybe someone knows the name, it was quite old, but with colours ofcourse. Thanks

What is your favorite short film that completely blown your mind?
I'm new in the short film's world, always been a fan of feature films but I'm curious and I want to know more about this side. That's why I'm considering diving into a short film binge and looking for suggestions for what you would consider your all-time favorite blow mind film.
Those that require several viewings to be fully understood. The ones you have to analyze every single element on it. You might be expecting something but you get something else in return. Or after you watched it, you can't get out of your mind that great message.
Anyway, I'm looking for that short film you will never forget.
Thank you. :)

Sleepaway Camp were fun cheesy slashers
I just watched all three of them last night. They were pretty outdated but they were still enjoyable. The first one was darker than the others. It was hilariously bad. The acting was so cringe worthy and they didn't take themselves seriously. I can't wait for the reboot. It will be interesting to see what they do with it. I haven't seen the 2008 remake yet but i heard it sucks. Any other movies like it?

Has anyone here seen Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile?
Hello. Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (Zac Efron and Lily Collins's Ted Bundy biopic, directed by Joe Berlinger) just had it's premiere at Sundance. I've been looking forward to the movie, and I was curious if anyone here attended the premiere and has seen the movie. If so, what were your thoughts? How was Efron in the movie? Thank you.

Which two actors or actresses are you dying to see as co-stars, but haven’t yet?
I’ve been waiting patiently for The Irishman, and thinking how great it’ll be to see De Niro and Pacino (and Pesci) back on screen together.
That got me thinking - who hasn’t worked together yet that you think would make a compelling pair, irrespective of age or dynamic (eg: not just love interests)?

Can someone help me find a detailed synopsis on The Godfather Part II
Apologies if this is the wrong subreddit, if so I’ll delete and ask elsewhere. I need to find a detailed synopsis of The Godfather Part II (1974) online. Something like this:
http://www.tcm.com/tcmdb/title/443184/The-Godfather/full-synopsis.html
But for the second film. Not the first. I’ve looked for quite a while and can’t find anything. Any and all help would be great! Thanks reddit!

BlacKkKlansman is still relevant in today's society
The racial tensions, police brutality and bigotry still exists today. We live in a scary world. It doesn't help that trump is in charge. He is fueling the hate. Good to see denzel washington's son in a lead role. He owned it. Some parts were disjointed and it was clunky but overall it was amazing. Another spike lee masterpiece. Hope it wins a few oscars. The script and cinematography was solid. Ron Stallworth is an interesting guy and it is based on his life. David duke is a monster and i'm surprised he is not rotting in a dark cell. Any other movies like it?
