Personally I felt it was a generic super hero movie,Nothing special or new added. But good lord I'm shocked how well it's doing this awards season! What am I missing? All I here is "It's an important flim". Yah it's a major step to have a all black super hero movie, but that shouldn't be a reason for it to be a front runner. By that logic "Babe's Kids" Should be a cinematic classic as it was the first non movie to promtleny star a black cast(not counting Coonskin obviously)
Honestly if any film Deveres Black Panthers slot it's "The.Hate U Give" It dose a better job at representing the black community, and it's struggles as well as repersnation,it brings issues and arguments most Whites like my self would have never thought of. Not to mention it's a emotional, and well shot movie. And just because it's based of a book shouldn't mean it isn't a good flim in its own right as by that logic "To Kill A mockingbird" and "Grapes of Warph "or "the Godfather" shouldn't be renouned as some of the best in American flim..
Also if you wanted to give a super hero movie best picture give it to Spiderman into the spidervre,it tells a Quine and original perspective on the superhero genre, Has a style different from any other main stream animnited flim. And the best superhero movie of the year. Plus it would bring representation to the animation genre as Animation almost never gets nominated for best picture!
So what about Black Panther makes it one of the best movies of the year? I don't see it
