The Hangover movies haven't aged well

When the first movie came out, one of my friends saw it at the theater and told us how we HAD to see it. We didn't. But when he ended up getting the Blu Ray a few months later, we all went over to his house to watch it, and had a great time.

Fast forward to 2019, me and these same friends got together and re-watched all of The Hangover movies. It was the first time that any of us had seen them in a few years, and suffice to say, we were all disappointed.

During the first movie, we were all pretty bored. None of it was as funny as we remembered, and we were all amazed at just how badly it had aged. We were surprised that it looked so old when it has barely been a decade. One of my friends noted that part of the fun of this movie was in not knowing what to expect, but still I remembered this movie being enjoyable even when you know what's going to happen next. We hardly laughed, and kind of forced ourselves to at the moments we used to love.

We all had our hopes up for the second installment, as that was our favorite back in the day. It was a little more fun than the first one, but we were still sitting there bored most of the time.

None of us really cared for The Hangover 3 when it was released, and we all knew when it came out that the series had lost it's steam. We hoped that seeing it again would have changed our perspective. I liked John Goodman's character more this time around. But we all agreed that it was a depressing, largely forgettable way to tie up the series.

I understand that me and my friends aren't in our late teens/early 20's anymore, and things change. I acknowledge that a good deal of our fondness for the movies were in the good times we had, us quoting it, and how we hoped to have our own adventure like the guys on the movies did.

But there are still plenty of movies I loved when I was younger, that had far more of an impact on my former self, that I can still enjoy. These movies were a chore to get through this time around, and I figured it would have been even better since me and my friends are now able to relate more to these characters. But we still found them boring.
