School of Rock is arguably an extremely well executed family film. Much like we see in the plot, the film serves as a bridge between the taste in rock classics parents grew up with and young kids discovering the wide spanning classics rock has to offer. But that's not what I'm looking to focus on today.
I'm sitting in a bar right now and Fleetwood Mac has come on, reminding me of a scene in the movie. I realised how thankful I am for School of Rock not forcing a relationship sub plot where it isn't needed. It was so easy to do. Jack and the Principal hit it off and find true love to tie together the happy ending. But that isn't what the film is about and isn't what it should be about. Where so many other films would shoehorn this in School of Rock keeps a relationship between two single adults platonic. And I'm so happy for it.
