The scene I’m referring to involves the main antagonist’s son and the primary henchman talking at the counter one morning during the film. The henchman pours two bowls of fruity pebbles and places the box dead center on the counter, facing the audience so that during a wide shot, we are staring directly at the box, and during a close up on the henchman were seeing the back of the box take up a good fourth of the frame but it’s also positioned so that during the close ups on the child, the spine of the box is the primary thing you focus on.
It’s so brightly colored and I almost wonder if they purposefully desaturated the scene to make our eye drift specifically to the cereal. It’s all I could pay attention to.
There was a ton of what I assume to be expository dialogue during their conversation and I missed every word of it because all I could focus on was the giant, bright red box of Fruity Pebbles.
