You may have noticed that many businesses have hours along the lines of 9-6 even when that doesn't seem to make business sense for them. For example barber shops in my area are dead and it looks like everyone has just been sitting on their phones for hours if you were to ever have the opportunity to go a 1pm on a Wednesday but if you go 10 minutes before closing time, the place is packed to the point that they end up staying open until 8:30 when they were supposed to close at 7. I've even seen things get bad reviews because "their hours are totally useless to anyone with a normal job". So what is it that motivates businesses to have those kinds of hours, even when they would probably do a lot more business if they were open evenings and weekends only?
