My friend got in a car accident on her way home from my house where we had a couple of drinks. Now she has a dui and her car is totalled. I feel responsible because she didn’t seem drunk or tipsy even when she left my house, she had one beer and a half of a mixed drink. I don’t know what to say to her now. I want to tell her I’m here for here but I feel like that won’t do anything. I feel like I’m the one that put her in this position and now she’s in trouble for it. She tried calling me to bail her out last night and I slept through her calls. I feel like a shitty friend.
So help me talk to her. What can I say to make any of this a little better?
(I know drinking and driving is against the law)
