I hate when people use this line on reddit to describe a bad kids film because it feels like, even with some people wishing to watch an animated movie, when they know is bad, they want to hide their distate for the movie with the phrase on the title.
If an animated movie feels like you won't find the appeal because it feels too kiddie for you, the phrase is more appropiate to use in this case. But if you didn't like the film, just say that you don't like it or you think is bad. And I know that being a kids movie doesn't excuse it from being good/bad but come on.
