The trailer for those who haven't had the chance to watch.
I've read a lot of the comments bashing this movie that are along the lines of "This makes the Sonic movie look good" and many others that just insult it's "look".
I saw cats on Broadway several times. It was a great stage-show with some great effects. Everything was "bigger" so that the actors/actresses appeared to be the size of cats. The show was as much a musical performance as it was a choreographed ballet performance.
A cat's movement is very graceful when compared to other animals. This is expressed through the dancing, ballet part of the show. The actors/actresses, were they to accurately look and move like a cat, would make the experience less "magical". The answer was to have people that looked like cats but could move more like a human.
With this style, so much more emotion can be expressed through the various performances.
The Broadway show hasn't been around for quite sometime, leaving a lot of people incapable of seeing the portrayals the stage show offered.
This movie was made to resemble the stage show as much as it could while also adding new, more modern elements to the show with the various technologies used in production today.
Not saying this movie is gonna be great or it's just going to absolutely suck. Just think people should understand the origins and why it looks the way it does.
