For example, my favorite character in A Time To Kill is Rufus Buckley. I always thought his character alignment in that movie was interesting. He’s an antagonist, but not a villain. By definition, he’s an antagonist because he’s actively opposing the main character Jake Brigance. However, he’s doing it because he’s the prosecutor and Brigance is the defense attorney in the trial. It’s not like he’s a bad person or anything. I’ve never read the book, but I don’t remember him being racist or doing anything malicious in the film. He even congratulated Brigance after the trial even though Hailey was acquitted. I also felt like Kevin Spacey put in a pretty good performance. But enough about my answer, what’s yours?
