Get rid of the voiceovers.
I liked this movie a lot. I think Brad Pitt is always good, and his performance here was one of his best. He does so much in this film with simply his expressions. They carried everything you needed to know about how the character was feeling. And that's my point. The movie is suffocating with constant VO exposition. At one point, it's even comical after a crucial plot point.
I feel like they were added afterwards by a test audience reaction or something. It's a sparse enough film, full of awe inspiring visuals. Even the ended felt a little tacked on. But that was at least satisfying in a way. But we didn't have to be hit over the head with every single feeling Pitt's character had. We could have been drawn in to think for ourselves what he must be going through.
