I feel like an idiot for thinking that this movie is not as bad as everyone says.
People say that Travolta's acting was bad and ''over the top'' but i don't see it, how come others see it then? Am I missing something? Where can I ''learn'' to recognize bad and over the top acting? I actually think his performance was good, there are some bad choices in the script so he had some stupid and illogical lines, but overall his portrayal of a socially inept man was good, it even had an effect on me, it made me sympathize with him.
Chris Stuckmann says in his review that Travolta made all the wrong choices in his acting, what did he mean by that? What exactly is the wrong choice in acting?
People say that this movie is misanthropic and downright offensive to autistic people, and that this is not how autistic people behave, yet almost every person with high functioning autism that i've encountered acts like Moose in this movie.
The Fanatic has a 3.9/10 rating on IMDB, and almost everyone makes fun of it saying that it can replace ''The Room'' because it's so bad that it's good. Every critic said the worst things about it, and while i agree that many things in the script are illogical and don't make any fucking sense, the same things happen in many films and yet no one gives them a rating this bad. In my opinion this is a basic 5.5/10 movie, mostly because of the bad writing and by that i mean bad plotting. If someone would rewrite this script and direct it, it could be a pretty neat character study
I also think that Fred Durst did an average job directing it, if anyone thinks otherwise, please tell me what exactly is it that he did bad or wrong. The only thinkgi can point out is the limp bizkit scene in the car, that was a complete autofellatio, but everything else is no better or worse than any other average movie. Did he do a bad job regarding Cinematography? Acting? Lighting? Seriously I don't see it, I know I'm not stupid or mentally underdeveloped, my IQ is 120, but seeing other people's opinions on this movie makes me feel really insecure. What do they see that i don't.
The thing that really pisses me off about the internet and opinions is that it seems like everybody forms their opinions by copying someone else's opinions. It's like they first check out what some critics think, then what other people (who formed their opinions by copying the opinions of the critics to feel intelligent) think, and then they just repeat what they heard or read. I bet a huge percentage of people who saw the movie didn't think anything about it, but after they saw the reviews where the critics point out what is ''bad'' without backing up their claims, they just said ''yep, he's right, i think that too''.
