We will never see or visit anything beyond our local galaxy cluster, because the distances between them are too great, even for faster than light travel. We are almost truly alone in this universe.

If we say there is one planet with life per galaxy, there are literal quintillion’s of these planets in the universe. But we will only be able to see like 10 of them max over the course of the universe’s existence, because by the time we develop the means to travel to these galaxies, they will be moving away from us faster than we can travel towards them. (This is assuming we don’t break physics in the near future with instantaneous teleportation anywhere in the universe - which is cheating)
