I feel like this is such a no brainer I can't believe Disney hasn't done it yet. Then again, Disney doesn't seem to know what to do with the Muppets at all.
Someone proposed Muppet Princess Bride a few weeks ago and while I like the idea, Star Wars is a much bigger IP. Plus, Disney already owns Star Wars AND the Muppets so I have to imagine that makes this way easier for them.
The casting practically takes care of itself:
Han - Kermit
Chewie - Fozzie
Princess Leia - Miss Piggy
C3P0 - Bunsen Honeydew
R2D2 - Beaker
Luke - Walter from the 2011 Muppet Movie, or maybe Robin
Obi Wan - Gonzo (I'd like to save Gonzo for Lando or Yoda, but let's assume we're only getting one of these and need to fit him into A New Hope)
Darth Vader - Sam Eagle
Tarkin - split him into two characters and fill the role with Statler and Waldorf
Greedo - Pepe the King Prawn (like the Gonzo situation I'd rather Pepe be Boba Fett, but again let's assume we only get one shot at this)
Cantina Band - Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem
Storm Troopers - Penguins!
