So the academy allows 10 movies to be nominated for best picture but this year they have only nominated 9. How does this work and why is there an empty slot? They could have given the leftover slot to another deserving movie such as Rocket Man, Book smart ,A beautiful day in the neighborhood, The two popes or maybe even Avengers: Endgame but they just left the slot empty. Why is this?
