When there is a women being abusive or mean or rude towards a male character it is play for laughs. When the opposite happen the men are portray as abusive assholes. When women are just portray as funny, sassy, or even cute. The humor is comparable to a child hitting a grown man in the nuts. The Women are usually not in the wrong for bullying these men. But when the genders are reversed the men are in the wrong. It's not just abused. It's also rude remarks and insults women in media say to men. But if it was the opposite the man would be considered a asshole, Douchbag, a dick
In tv shows and movies even the female main character/Protagonist can shows these behaviors while a male opposite would be a Antagonist or be the bad character of the movie or tv show. Not the main character. Because male main characters are post to be nice and not rude to women. Even the women who is mean to him. Hence why the male nerd have crush on the mean girl who constantly shit on him for the whole season. Hence why the female nerd get revenge on the jock asshole who was main to her the next episode.
Examples Two in half men: Alan constantly get shit on by his wife. His wife always make rude remarks to him it is play for laugh. She berate him at every opportunity she gets. She belittles him.
Riverdale: A red hair girl who I think is a mean girl antagonist. But she is rude to men But it's still not a problem in the show while a man was mean to women. He got scared in a pool by female taken revenge on him. While a another man was call misogynist for calling women bitch. This red hair character once push the two male protagonist by walking through them. She wasn't even in the wrong for doing that. It was just a manner scene in the show. She even slap one of the male protagonist before.
Icarly. Sam is constantly hitting,talking down to,insulting Freddy but it's plays for laughs. But in any other show the male would be a bad guy for being mean to women.
Naruto: Sakura constantly kick naruto ass for comedy calls him idiot a lot.
Jersey store: Man hit women don't air on tv. Genders reversed it's ok to show on tv.
The office: Andy gets punch by Kelly it's okay. Play for laughs.
New girl: A man constantly get ridiculed by his female coworkers.
Victorious:A characters constantly control what her boyfriend do.Controlling nearly every facet of his life, preventing him from doing anything that she doesn't approve of, and forcing him to go along with her Cartoonish Supervillainy. The whole situation is Played for Laughs but if the genders were reversed, the network would never have allowed it
The only time it was acceptable for male characters to be abusive,rude,mean, and belittling women was pro wrestling
John cena would constantly call lita a slut. Stephanie McMahon would be call a slut by men. Women get hit maybe not nowadays but it happen. But these men were portray as good guys. John cena was the hero while calling lita a slut. But in any other show he would be the bad guy.
