I don’t know whether I’m getting wiser or more cynical but as of more recently its my firm belief that 99% of what comes out of Hollywood is pure crap. I mean I’ve always known most movies are bad.
All it takes is a visit to IMDB and read user reviews to see I’m not alone. Most critics are very accurate in detailing plot holes, bad lines, unlikely coincidences ect. Most movies critics seem to have an abundance of common sense; Unlike script writers and directors it seems.
It’s like these people who make movies lack any common sense whatsoever.. or, they just don’t care. It’s perhaps more about the potential payoff? They want to make bank and don’t care if the plot makes no sense. Maybe they know there is a low standard for such things among the industry. Very few movies have a solid plot.
But that can’t be the case. If you are Aware that there are major plot holes, as a director, what’s stopping you from correcting it? A lack of imagination? I don’t buy it. Is there an unwillingness to go back to the writer and point these things out and collaborate to improve it?maybe they don’t have Time for that. Isn’t it in the directors best interest to make his movie as good as possible? and that includes everything about it.
No... these people who makes movies are stupid. They don’t know better. They don’t have a fucking clue.
So how did it come to be that critics have all the common sense and writers and directors have none?
What stops you as a movie buff and experienced critic from being a writer and director yourself?
WE should be making movies.
I’ll take this opportunity to say Hollywood is filled with amazing actors. It is often the only redeeming quality of a movie. There is so much potential for Great movies wasted again and again.
