Obviously this varies theater to theater, but the one I went to was $150 for a double feature, and that price included $50 of drink tickets. The owner says they have excellent ventilation, include a several hour buffer between different groups in each auditorium, and were wiping down every seat between showings even before the pandemic.
Split that prices across a moderately-sized group and you're within range of normal movie tickets, but for a pandemic-safe outing that supports local businesses and is also REALLY fun. You can pick whatever movie you want, so you and your friends can go watch the original Matrix, the Star Wars Prequels, Cats or whatever else you wish you could see on the big screen. You can also request they pause the movie for bathroom breaks (which is an extra bonus since a lot of the small theaters let you drink beer during the movie.)
It's extra-great for families desperate to let their kids get out of the house for a while - you can take younger kids that aren't yet well-behaved enough for normal movies, without the risk of annoying strangers.
