When Sonny Corleone wrote on the kitchen cabinet* in The Godfather, it added an additional sense of urgency to the scene. I didn't think about it being a masterful choice at the time, I just went with the flow and felt what the filmmakers wanted me to feel in that moment. Only later, upon repeat viewings, did I realize what a wonderful choice it was, and that it was a conscious decision made by really creative people who knew what they were doing.
Do you have a tiny movie detail that you can share? Something so small as to almost go unnoticed, but something so precise that it elevates the scene to another level?
* apologies for the link, I couldn't find the scene with the real audio
