Say an advance screening of Love, Simon tonight and was pleasantly surprised. While it treaded After School Special territory, it portrayed the coming out experience honestly. Several of the characters were cliched, but they all serve their purpose. The humor was consistent throughout, and several of the gay in-jokes were risqué (which made them all the more fun).
It’s refreshing to see this film as a mainstream release. It deserves an audience.
