Aside from hypersexualizing a 13 y/o Natalie Portman, the pace of the movie is painfully slow, and the writing is bland, so bland that there’s background music in almost every scene to keep you from falling asleep. I get this is a fictional movie, but even in those parameters, the logic is pretty stupid.
From looking at different movie forums, I always viewed this movie to be a cult-classic. However I couldn’t take this movie seriously after about 30 minutes, and it was almost unwatchable by the time Matilda (Natalie Portman’s character) starts singing “Like a Virgin” in an exposed bra to Leon (40+) alone in an apartment.
Anyone think this movie deserves more credit?
P.S. I think I watched the extended cut, which was about 25 minutes longer. I REALLY HOPE the regular version didn’t include the extremely uncomfortable “love” scenes between the two leads. Really hard to watch those scenes and not turn the movie off.
