The Classics of Tomorrow

So with half of 2019 done, the first two decades of the 21st century is drawing to a close. And that got me thinking. How will this period of cinema history be remembered in the future? There has always been lots of movies, but only a handful or so goes on to be remembered as cinematic masterpieces; either because of their maintained popularity, their influence over the film medium, or both. Movies like Metropolis, Citizen Kane, 2001 A Space Odyssey and Seven Samurai.

So which movies from the last 20 years will achieve immortality in film history, and still be remembered by movie fans in 2080? For instance, I believe movies that are considered innovative have a bigger chance than movies that are simply popular. Movies like Mulholand Drive will probably be discussed far longer than Frozen.

Some other possible candidates of mine are: Pan's Labyrinth, There Will Be Blood and In The Mood For Love.

But what do you think? If there are 10 movies from the 2000's and 2010's that will stick around for at least sixty years; what are they?
