How do you think Marc Forster's 'World War Z' (2013) would be regarded if it simply had a different name?

To start off, I absolutely loved the book and think it would make an incredible series/miniseries/anthology if it was adapted correctly however I've just rewatched World War Z and was reminded by how much I enjoyed the film.

It's regularly referred to as a terrible adaptation, which is admittedly correct, but I think it's a pretty damn interesting and original addition to the zombie genre, which also features some great action scenes/set-pieces (even if there is some janky CGI in many places). It's pretty relentless in terms of action between the talky bits.

I love the interpretation of the zombies as creatures who swarm like ants (I believe that has been stated as an influence on their climbing etc) and are relentless hunters who pose a real threat to everyone. I love how Gerry observes them and learns details such as "turning time", alerts and weaknesses.

Even if Pitt's character is a bit bland, I appreciate his place as a resourceful observer who is focused but compassionate at every turn. Ok, it's probably a bit far-fetched that he survives each encounter but magazine arm guards are just genius and he performs well in the role.

The globe-trotting nature of the film is great and we get a swift insight into the trials and tribulations that have faced the rest of the world rather than just within one nation as we normally see.

Basically I just feel it has been mistreated a bit due to comparison and I'm really disappointed that the Fincher sequel seems to have died off too. Would have been fascinating to see his take on the genre!

Anyway, how do you guys feel about the film and what would you call it instead of World War Z so that it was treated independently of the book?
