I have an android. I know iPhone to iPhone has a 'read' message, but does it work from iPhone to android or android to android?
Do you think you need to be intelligent to know how to talk the constant drivel that is "the comments section" on reddit ?
It's that sort of gritty neo-noir look that I've noticed in films like:
Gran Torino (2004)
Black Swan (2010)
The Dark Knight (2008)
Shutter Island (2010)
It feels more textured and rough. I really dig it. Maybe it's specific to directors that strictly use film instead of digital? I'd love to know what you recommend.
The plot is that a little boy (about 7 or 8 yo) has always wished for a little brother. However, already when his mother gets pregnant he starts regretting asking that and feeling jealous because the attention of the parents are shifting from him to the baby. I remember vaguely on scene where the kids are playing cards in the school patio and the teacher catches them. One of them has to write something on the black board a lot times. As the movie progresses the “older” boy starts liking his little brother and getting along with him. It isn’t a new movie; I would bet it’s from the 90’s or early 2000’s but I’m not sure. If any of you could help me with the name I’d appreciate it. Thanks!
I am 28 and have watched more than 2000 movies(2221 as of today). This count does not include TV shows and web series.
Around 4.5 years back I learned about the IMDb website and I found that they keep the record of all the movies I have rated. I then started rating the movies on it.
I am have made this a habit and I always rate a movie after watching it.
I'm bored... fire away.
Hi. I’m gonna preface this with I’m high functioning autistic, and with medications I’m medium functioning anxiety/depression.
Without medication I am not functioning; and medication does not get rid of all my symptoms or issues. I see a therapist and psychologist regularly.
I am a rape survivor, as well as some home abuse survivor. And more recently, a car crash survivor.
I’m terrified of baths, the dark, being alone, sleeping, and now cars.
I seriously neglect my physical health and often forget to do basic tasks like eating, showering, brushing my teeth, cleaning etc. It’s not necessarily because I WANT to avoid these tasks. I just genuinely forget.
I am seriously medicated when it comes to bed time, and have to use a weighted blanket.
And I am seriously unobservant. I don’t have an internal marker that says “oh, this is a dangerous situation.” Or “oh, you’re having a panic attack. You need to go somewhere quiet to calm down.”
I’ve talked with my therapist about having a service animal or an ESA.
We settled on me having an ESA. Which promptly died of cancer of the kidneys and liver two months later. (I adopted her from the shelter, and they don’t do in-depth health checks for dogs that have been there a while. she was a 9 y/o English pointer.)
I want a service dog.
I’m just not sure if it’s selfish of me to want one, or to disagree with my therapists opinion.
I’m really struggling right now because of the car accident.
I’m not sure if I qualify for one, how to get one, or even if I need one. I think I just need a little help noticing what the hell is going on with me, and some comforting.
I think it would greatly help some issues, like the fear of driving alone. (I have a horrible fear of Japanese monsters and the grudge really fucked me up.) and probably sleeping. I’m not sure how to bring it up in a way that she will take me seriously either.
Any advice?
So i have pretty big crush on one of my guyfriends (im a girl) and normally everyday after ninth period (the last class of the day) i walk downstairs to go to my locker and on my way there i pass his classroom. Normally i have to catch up to him or visa versa but recently hes been waiting near the stairs i walk down to start talking and walking then. Just wondering from the guys does this mean anything or does he just like talking to me i dont know.
This movie was from the late 80’s or early 90’s. I thought it starred Ione Skye, but I can’t find the movie in her IMDb. The movie starts out in black and white, follows the protagonist through his day, until he ends up accidentally bumping into a girl. While he’s helping pick up her things, they make eye contact, and there is an extreme close up of her eyes, which are colored. When the camera cuts away from the extreme closeup, the whole movie is in color. Can anyone help me remember the title of this movie?
I feel like an idiot for thinking that this movie is not as bad as everyone says.
People say that Travolta's acting was bad and ''over the top'' but i don't see it, how come others see it then? Am I missing something? Where can I ''learn'' to recognize bad and over the top acting? I actually think his performance was good, there are some bad choices in the script so he had some stupid and illogical lines, but overall his portrayal of a socially inept man was good, it even had an effect on me, it made me sympathize with him.
Chris Stuckmann says in his review that Travolta made all the wrong choices in his acting, what did he mean by that? What exactly is the wrong choice in acting?
People say that this movie is misanthropic and downright offensive to autistic people, and that this is not how autistic people behave, yet almost every person with high functioning autism that i've encountered acts like Moose in this movie.
The Fanatic has a 3.9/10 rating on IMDB, and almost everyone makes fun of it saying that it can replace ''The Room'' because it's so bad that it's good. Every critic said the worst things about it, and while i agree that many things in the script are illogical and don't make any fucking sense, the same things happen in many films and yet no one gives them a rating this bad. In my opinion this is a basic 5.5/10 movie, mostly because of the bad writing and by that i mean bad plotting. If someone would rewrite this script and direct it, it could be a pretty neat character study
I also think that Fred Durst did an average job directing it, if anyone thinks otherwise, please tell me what exactly is it that he did bad or wrong. The only thinkgi can point out is the limp bizkit scene in the car, that was a complete autofellatio, but everything else is no better or worse than any other average movie. Did he do a bad job regarding Cinematography? Acting? Lighting? Seriously I don't see it, I know I'm not stupid or mentally underdeveloped, my IQ is 120, but seeing other people's opinions on this movie makes me feel really insecure. What do they see that i don't.
The thing that really pisses me off about the internet and opinions is that it seems like everybody forms their opinions by copying someone else's opinions. It's like they first check out what some critics think, then what other people (who formed their opinions by copying the opinions of the critics to feel intelligent) think, and then they just repeat what they heard or read. I bet a huge percentage of people who saw the movie didn't think anything about it, but after they saw the reviews where the critics point out what is ''bad'' without backing up their claims, they just said ''yep, he's right, i think that too''.
Just started watching this movie, mostly because it has Gandolfini in it.
I was just thinking, how different would the plot/story be if Winter hadn't heard Redford make that comment about what sort of person has a 'collection like this'? Obviously the plot was going in the total opposite direction, and then that one single comment changed everything. Up until then, Winter was practically sucking Redford's cock.
Hey r/ask! You know all of those Halloween costumes that are just all really bad puns? Well, I would like to do them all ranging from the groan-worthy “all ears” covered in a bunch of printed ear clip art to the gross “by the skin of your teeth”. I need your help to come up with as many puns as possible. What idioms/puns would you like to see pulled off? How would one go about doing them? Open to all suggestions.
I worry if I come into a position of power, videos of me masturbating will be used against me.
My cat's name is Leroy. My dad started calling him Buddy, and I called him Big Baby, then they combined into Bubby. I call him Baby Boy as well, and my mom occasionally refers to him as Little Lord Fantleroy.
I was wondering if anyone can help produce a concrete poem (a poem that takes the shape of its topic)for an 8th-grade poetry assignment I need to be finished, HOWEVER, there is an open google doc that anyone who may come across this post may help in the construction of the poem. Good luck!

For someone who hasn't watched Once Upon A Time In Hollywood yet, would it be ok to watch the Extended Cut (more showings available) or would you recommend watching the original cut first? I've been wanting to watch this movie but now it's hard to find a showing for the original cut that I can get to. Would it be a mistake to watch the Extended cut if I haven't seen the movie yet?
Hey everyone. Since it's almost Halloween, I'm trying to think of some good horror movies to watch. My little brother is at the age where he wants to watch horror movies, but he can't watch anything rated R.
Do you know of any scary PG-13 horror movies? Right now I'm thinking of showing him A Quiet Place or the Sixth Sense. I know those movies are good, although I don't find them to be scary. I found The Grudge (2004) to be quite scary, but I'm sure there are scarier movies out there.
So, what is the scariest PG-13 horror movie out there?
PG-13
1. **Gretel and Hansel** (Rated PG-13 for disturbing images/thematic contend, and brief drug materil.) Orion Releasing, LLC 2. **Weathering With You (ANIMATED)** (rated PG-13 For suggestive material, some violence and language.) GKIDS
R
3. **Disturbing The Peace** (rated R for violence and language.) Momentum Pictures, LLC 4. **John Henry** (rated R for strong bloody violence, pervasive language, sexual references and some drug use.) Saban Films, LLC 5. **Juvenile Delinquents** (rated R for pervasive language, violent contnet, sexual references, and some teen drinking.) Big Bull Production 6. **The Werewolf** (rated R for violence, bloody images, language throughout and some drug use.) Orion Releasing, LLC
With so many good movies from the past getting remade (and butchered) as female reboots, don't you think Hollywood should try a different approach? If being PC and appeasing the social justice warriors is so important to them, why not make male reboots to movies and TV shows from the past that had predominantly female casts and correct those social injustices?
Now if Hollywood ever got a clue and actually did something that made sense for once and released a male reboot of "Charlie's Angels" starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Denzel Washington and Keanu Reeves as the Angels, with Michelle Pfeiffer as Bosley and Helen Mirren as Charlie, would you go see it?
I wonder: in the classroom scene at the beginning of Raiders of the Lost Ark, a young woman has "LOVE YOU" written on her eyelids and blinks significantly at Jones. That seems interesting enough to be a sub-plot, but it's never touched on again. Was there something in the original script that explored a relationship between the two and the editor just left that bit in for some reason, or was it just a throwaway?
The only thing I remember is that a girl (I’m pretty sure it’s a girl, I could be wrong) goes into a bank with a gun hidden in her pocket with the purpose of robbing it. She waits in line and when is her turn to talk to the teller she goes en slow motion to get the gun and before she can grab it, a group of men walk in to the bank with guns and start robing the bank. The girl gets shot and killed. That’s all I remember, and it’s killing me that I can’t find where that movie is called!
A character in a movie that you think would have made the movie better if they had died (such as sacrificing themselves) in order to make the movie more emotional and less predictable. My example would be Batman in The Dark Knight Rises. Would have been a better and more emotional sendoff if he actually died when flying the bomb away from Gotham but it turns out he faked his death. What is your examples? Explain why.
Sometimes everyone in an audience is just on the same wavelength and heightens the experience of watching a great movie. Sometimes people heckle or make comments in a way that’s actually fun. Or maybe the director or star shows up as a surprise and the audience goes nuts. What are some of your best movie theatre audience stories?
Mine would have to be THX 1138. It perfectly combines the worlds of 1984 and Brave New World into an (almost) perfect sci-fi thriller. I love the bleak look of everything, it really portrays how hopeless the world really is in that universe. Robert Duvall’s acting was also stellar in my opinion. It’s a shame George Lucas only made 2 other films (not counting the prequel trilogy). Another shame that Brave New World never got a proper movie. What’s your favorite dystopian movie and why?
So the movie is about 3 or 4 siblings. Their father was abusive and the eldest son killed him before his father could kill his siblings. Later on they find out the father is alive im the attic feeding off of rats and stuff. The ending of the movie shows us that the big brother actually couldnt prevent the father from killing his siblings and he believes they are real while being mentally disable. Kinda like the dude in SPLIT but anaware. And i forgot the name any help is appreciated.
So I'm not sure if this goes here or should it be posted somewhere else (If so, please say where), but here's the deal:
In the purge every crime is legal for 12 hours, so I could steal a bank if I wanted to and wouldn't be held accountable for, but... Would I have to report that money in my taxes? And if so, how would I report it?
Starring, David Duchovny, Julianne Moore, Orlando Jones and Seann William Scott. This has to be one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Orlando Jones is amazing and its actually a shame his career never took off.
I watch this movie at least once a year and I enjoy it just as much every time.
What other movies do people think are criminally underrated like Evolution?

The credits start at 0:50 and finish at 2:00 in this video. Weird as it may sound, being the product of a TV show, I consider this sequence to be one of the best pieces of cinema the French have ever crafted. If it was possible to rate this on letterboxd as a short movie, I'd probably give it a 9.
It's funny how those things seem to gain more resonance simply by getting older. Rewatching this now, those images feel less like a reality show and more like a long forgotten dream. The exotic locations, atmospheric lighting and low quality recording provide an ethereal quality to the footage. This is truly what a harrowing exile on a deserted island should feel like. The editing is superb, with great transitions and matching to the iconic, beautiful music. I especially love the longing part around the 1:10 mark. And the spinning shot of the forest, near the end, is such a chilling image that you wouldn't expect to find in this type of production.
In many ways this reminds me of the works of Jonas Mekas. The blurring of the lines between reality and fiction, the shooting style, the quick and playful editing. This is life becoming art.
I was watching the Hungarian collage film Final Cut: Hölgyeim es uraim (2012) aka (Final Cut: Ladies and Gentlemen), and the image in the attachment came in.I wondered which film is this scene taken from. I couldn't find out the source of this clip. I will be very glad if someone knows which movie is this shot taken from (Sorry for my english).
I've hated twitter for a long time but I thought I'd give it another chance to impress me or disappoint me. I want some suggestions of funny or just cool accounts that y'all think I should follow. The apps simple enough, just I'm having a hard time to find any good accounts for stuff I'm interested in.
I got an earring recently and I am concerned about my earlobe, the earring is like a diamond shape and when i noticed, the diamond part was kinda inside my earlobe, i am wearing it for like 6 days so, will it regenerate?, i hope my earlobe regenerates in the shape of a needle maybe?
How do you become a white helmet or a similar volunteer organization? I can't find out anywheres.
What movies jump into mind when I ask for a plot that follows how environmental or external experiences can change a person for better or worse?
A couple that come to mind for me are
Trading Places
A history of Violence
The stanford prison experiment
Thanks!
*Horror movies are even better :)
Got to the movie theater tonight to go see the lighthouse with my girlfriend, & got told at the booth that they decided to show the Addams Family instead. Turns out we were the only two tickets sold for both screening so they decided to cancel all the showing at my theater. Manager who processed my refund also lied that the production company decided not to release the movie today. Now I have to drive an hour to see it this weekend, would be lying if I said I wasn't really annoyed about the whole thing. Just letting me know before today would have been nice honestly, anyone ever had this happen before?
Jojo Rabbit released in a few more cities starting today (I was finally able to see it in Boston!) and I know we'll get an official thread in a week or two when it finally expands to the rest of country, but for now I wanted to make a thread for those of us who've seen it already to discuss it!
(SPOILERS FROM HERE ON)
I really enjoyed it. I thought the main boy was great, especially for a young kid with no prior films (who was doing a German accent, no less!). The rest of the cast was also wonderful. Taika Waititi was funny and used sparingly enough to not get grating. One or two more Hitler scenes and I would've been like "ok, yeah, I get it, silly Hitler", but they definitely stayed under that limit. Scarlett Johansen was less one-note than she tends to be which was definitely a relief.
Sam Rockwell's character was really interesting, especially with the hints that he may be gay. The movie did a great job with his character of not making you sympathize with the Nazis necessarily, but I guess of making you wish they never had to be in that situation in the first place. The sadness of his eventual death wasn't that he was a good person so much as that he never had the chance to be a good person. He saved Elsa and he helped Jojo but at the end of the day he was a Nazi - the movie doesn't excuse that, but shows why that's its own form of little tragedy. Especially if he was gay and his options were conform or die. He was like who Jojo would be if he didn't have his mom or Elsa to show him what's right.
I will say - and I know that a lot of you will disagree - that I am a little bit annoyed that Elsa wasn't played by someone actually Jewish. Thomasin Mckenzie is a wonderful actress and she did very well, and in the vast majority cases I don't care who plays what part (I don't care that Mrs. Maisel isn't Jewish, for example), but in movies like this I am a little bit like... come on. You couldn't find anyone Jewish?
Overall though I really liked this movie! I've seen that a lot of reviews are calling it derivative, but I guess since I hasn't seen most of the movies it's supposedly derivative of, I didn't mind. I thought it did a great job of darkening towards the end. The whole scene where Elsa was pretending to be Inga had me holding my breath.
Anyways, those of you who have seen it, what did you think?
Think about it.
I don't know if I'm in the right subreddit for this but I need help verifying if this is real because my mom and her friends are planning to buy "Nano-ion Spec Eyewear" I've tried to look for things like studies but I can't seem to find anything that proves their claims to be true. Here's something from their Facebook page:
With 2 years of clinical trials of hospital treatment in Taipei, it has been proven that IONSPEC/ NANOSPEC Spectacles are capable of releasing infrared energy and Far ions that surround the eye area that will improve blood circulation and accelerate metabolism. This releases "free radical" toxins, increases the vitality of eye cells, anti-blu-ray, and lowers eye pressure to improve the treatment of eye diseases. NANOSPEC IONSPEC can help improve many eye diseases, including myopia, presbyopia, astigmatism, dry eyes, various headaches, blood pressure control and glaucoma prevention.
The First and Only Specs in the Whole World Classified as Medical... is now available in Phils!!! 6 in1 MGI-SPECs eyeglasses: - Nano Silver - Anti-Radiation - Organic Germanium stone - Negative ion - UV rays - Far Infrared (F.I.R) SEEDS 5
Most people don't care about anything or don't have feelings and it's encouraged. People like them usually succeed in life while other people don't. I don't think it's right that I can't get anywhere in life because I'm not what society wants.
I want to get into 3D modeling so I could 3D print stuff. It seems very difficult tho. Got any suggestions?
Idk they seem equally offensive to me.
Zip codes are just social security numbers for towns.
So is their daddy their baby daddy too?
School project don’t hate pls
I just farted and it turned into a really bad accident in my pants
Rain is water passing through air while bubbles are the reverse. They even go in opposite directions.
This guy is trans and goes by he/him and I really want to call him something fucking adorable! I want to do more than just call him he/him, dude, guy. I want something that captures how I feel about him and let's him know I think he's so goddamn gorgeous and that he's literally taken over every thought in my brain. Something that appreciate more than just his body, something that really accentuates the fact that he is so wonderfully intelligent and his personality is so damn lovey that I literally break every time I see him. Like I can go from being pissed off and then *bam* he smiles and i fucking fall, and I can't stop smiling.
I need something that makes him feel absolutely beautiful, head to toe, and for his loving personality and his smile and his brainy bookishness and just everything.
Hello, I am looking for this moment in cycling where these two guy are far ahead of the rest of the racers and they come to the final stretch of the race. So one guy reaches a fist out and the other guy responds to with a fist bump and they both go all out the rest of the stretch.
It’s very inspirational to me and I really want to find the video for it.
Is there anybody who knows what I am talking about? Thank you!!
It's weird to think 2010 to 2020 is the same amount of time that 1940 to 1950 was.
Yes, I was in the shower when I thought of this
I have just had the hilarious though that even hardcore gang members have to go food shopping. I now how a vision of gang memeber wheeling his vegetables around walmart.
