I don't get it, it's not like license plates contain sensitive information.
Or to increase the chances of one developing.
So yesterday night I went to use Snapchat, and noticed it would not let me switch to my back camera. When I did this it would freeze on my phone and nothing worked, then when I restarted the app it was just a black screen. Same thing with the camera app as well, it won’t let me switch to the back camera and just freezes. When I use FaceTime and try to switch the camera it goes black and tells me “Your camera is in use by another application.” I’ve tried everything from deleting the apps and redownloading, restarting my phone, checking restrictions, but I can’t figure it out. Any help? x
Hear me out. The actor who played Malcolm suffered a brain injury irl that had memory loss affect. So in an interesting way of thinking, perhaps Hal's son went through a similar situation after the show ended. The traumatic experience caused the family to break up, and Hal went out to create another life. Eventually he has a whole new family and a whole new life, and that's when Walter happens. Just a fun way to think about it; cheers.
All day Chilling in the bed with nothing to do and even don't be able to communicate appropriately, but still you don't feel the time pass and all of a sudden you are a Kid.
I remember thinking, "A sequel to Psycho made after Hitchcock died? Seriously"? I finally watched it and was enthralled from beginning to end. Director Richard Franklin handled the suspense quite well. and Perkins is fantastic and brings depth and sympathy to Norman Bates. Jerry Goldsmith delivers a haunting score (also amazing to see one master composter follow up another, Bernard Hermann) and Dean Cundey (Halloween, The Thing) provides some great shots. I didn't quite care for a twist in the end but it didn't ruin the movie for me. Overall a worthy sequel. Heard Psycho 3 isn't bad either. Looks like Psycho wasn't just a great movie but a solid series.
Alright movie peeps. I call on you! So I've finally hit every good American, European and Latin American movie and tv show about gangs.
Gomorrah and Narcos have been by far my favorite. The Traitor was probably my favorite movie in that regard. So I'm looking for something of a similar nature...but centered on the Yakuza or Triads.
Before anyone recommends Raid...I've seen both and that's not what I'm looking for. Also watched Giri-Haji (10/10).
Criteria is as such.
2014 or newer. Personal preference.
Preferably no humor or comedy. Would like this to be dark and serious.
Movie. NOT TV SHOW.
Nothing horribly low budget.
Thanks homies. I would post on movie suggestions...but I'm banned for being too opinionated. Sooooo next best.
Whatcha got?!
All of the kids represent a deadly sin. Veruca is greed, Mike Teevee sloth, Violet is pride, Augustus gluttony, and Charlie envy.
They all have a version of consciousness that tries to help them being their guardian; some more vocal then others.
They all magically or “by chance” get a ticket to see a person that no one has seen before even though owning a factory in a rather large town.
So in this Willy Wonka represents the devil of sorts always temping and never really preventing the pitfalls the children encounter. The oompa lumpas are the demons that just do Mr. Wonka bidding also never helping the children really. We never see the kids again after their outcomes and left to know nothing of them and Wonka only really talks about the torture the kids will go through to get out of the factory.
Each kids is put against their greatest weakness; gum chocolate, gold, being on tv or in tv, and then Charlie who will end up getting money and not being poor any longer. The only one that overcomes this is Charlie bucket who gets everything he ever dreams of, after being whisked away into the sky and essentially given a ticket to “Heaven.”
I have never read the book so this is just interesting about the original movie, or the only movie; did they remake it?????? Nah don’t think they did.
Tonight was the night I officially went ''fuck this shit''.
My father, who I have not seen for 11 years, and who lives in a different country, came around as a type of reunion. My dad is here for 3 more days before he has to go back home, so we're making the most of it.
My dad came in to my room with a smile on his face wanting to look at the YouTube challenges videos so we can both have a good laugh. One of them was the cinnamon challenge, another was the chilli pepper challenge. We must of laughed like 5 times for every clip because my dad kept asking me to replay it in slow motion to laugh even harder at the clips.
In the related videos section was the ice bucket challenge which included very strange ice bucket challenges like a truck filled with water that is poured onto 3 big looking guys and they start screaming like girls.
Me and my dad had a good laugh and it made my mood feel much better, because I wasn't feeling physically healthy today because I'm having a flair up of symptoms associated with my Chiari Malformation.
Anyway my mom came in and then asked me why I was making fun of her condition, I said I wasn't, she said ''well your dad thinks it's hilarious'' and I tried to explain ''the videos are done for charity and to raise awareness of ALS'' but she made me out to be a bad person because we found popular YouTube challenge videos funny, even though the titles had 'funny' in the title and everyone in the comments loved the video compilation.
I've been feeling like shit for the rest of tonight. I was looking forward to a Chinese takeout since yesterday, I literally ate less than 1/3rd of the food.
I still remember back in 2013 when my best friend died in an accident she told me to grow up because I was crying at the fact that he's gone, and I'll miss him. It's like I'm not supposed to show any emotions whether it be sadness, anger, joy, or laughter. She also makes me feel like a bad person if I ever mention that I'm depressed from the symptoms that Chiari gives me and how I'm in pain every day all day and I keep having seizures every day with no end in sight.
My dad's mood seems to be bad now, he tried to do funny stuff or make jokes in front of me and my mom and I just stood there with a blank face not laughing or even smiling. When she asked why I wasn't laughing I said my new persona is a robot and I am going to be a robot from now on. I told my dad we are not going to watch anymore funny videos or make jokes anymore.
Sometimes I just feel like taking a sleeping pill overdose and ending it all (I only have 3 Temazapam on me right now, I get a 10 a month prescription of Temazapam, and 10 Zopiclone a month). What world is this where I can't express something as simple as joy or laughter without being shit on?
Should I just be a robot to protect myself? I mean specifically in front of my mother, but I'd act like my normal/true self when I am only with friends, doctors, psychiatrists, co workers etc?
When I'm feeling upset my dad comforts me, he laughs with me, if I'm feeling stressed he understands, doesn't gatekeep me, etc.
I want to vote, but there are things I disagree with from both parties. Everything feels like chaos. I also think the electoral college is failing us. What would you say to sway me to either Trump or Biden? Factual evidence with references only please! Thanks (:
It seems like damn near f$&*ing everyone in my Spanish class knows everything we’re learning and I’m the one idiot who’s clueless most of the time. I would like to think I’m not an idiot, I do well in all my other classes but Spanish and just about any other language is my weakest subject. I do better in physics or chemistry. Even my Spanish professor basically lowkey belittles me whenever I have a meeting with him during office hours.
This is a hypothetical question, I’m just curious. I’m aware that if I, a US citizen, were to travel to the UK I would have to quarantine for 14 days. However, would I be able to just plan a trip there for a week and then travel back to the US once that week is up? Or do I have to stay in the UK for all 14 days?
Sorry if this question is stupid but I want to make my balloon light enough to hold a piece of chocolate and still fly. Any way of making it lighter like adding more balloons?
So this is going to sound like a strange and ridiculous post, and I agree it is. I have a friend who has always been drawn to 'Hispanic culture' (she is White: British and Irish to be exact, and I am Hispanic). My family is from Puerto Rico but they never taught me Spanish because they wanted to English to be my primary language growing up in a Western country. When I was around 25, I took a Spanish language learning class and this is where I originally met my friend. She was taking Spanish classes because her boyfriend at the time was Mexican and she wanted to learn the language. She befriended me very quickly, which I didn't think much of at the time, but when she later added me to Facebook I saw that most of her friends were hispanic and that she seemed to be really to Hispanic cultures.
Any way, fast forward a few years: we remained friends after the course ended. Her and her bf broke up but she was on the hunt for another Hispanic bf because she "doesn't like White guys". I found her infatuation with all things Spanish, a little strange but it didn't concern me this much until recently. A few months ago she took a dna ancestry test to see if there would be anything 'interesting' in her DNA and told me that she was hoping there was a trace of ancestry from a Hispanic country. Low and behold, most of her DNA was from Britain and Ireland, but there was a trace of 0.8% [less than 1%] from Cuba. Since then she has been flaunting this and really milking the situation. Almost every conversation we have she has to bring up something about 'being Hispanic' and making generalizations about Hispanic people (e.g. "you know how Spanish guys are"). She went to one of her Ecuadorian friend's weddings and told me that she was trying very hard to "look Spanish" by putting brown extensions in her hair and tanning her skin (she is naturally a red head with freckles and pale skin). I find this behaviour both disturbing and offensive. The fact that her behaviour is quite bizarre is besides the point to me, I am appalled that she would even suggest that she is Hispanic due to having less than 1% ancestry from Cuba. Most of us have some sort of a mix in our DNA, but at what point can we claim heritage to these cultures? She and her parents and her grandparents and great grand parents [and generations before that] have all lived and navigated the world as White, British/Irish people and neither her lived experiences nor her physical features resemble anything associated with being a Hispanic woman. I understand there is no 'universal' Hispanic identity, but there are shared experiences, generational customs, values, and an overall culture that is connected to our identity. I am writing to vent as her behaviour has really disturbed and offended me and I am not sure if I am overreacting or if I have a 'right' to feel this way. My culture and ethnicity are very significant to me and it feels insulting for someone to claim they are the same as me due to having less than 1% ancestry from who knows how many generations ago. I haven't said much to her because I am not sure if it is 'my place' to comment on this, so I am really just wondering what others think. Would you be offended if someone behaved this way with regard to your culture? Is it not a big deal? Would you say something? Any insights would be really appreciated, thanks for reading.
TLDR: After taking a dna ancestry test, my White friend [British & Irish] found out she is 0.8% (less than 1%) Cuban and insists that she is Hispanic. I find this offensive as an actual Hispanic woman (born in Puerto Rico to Puerto Rican parents) and I am wondering if I am overreacting or if this is really problematic.
Hey all,
I’m writing a novel and the next chapter I will write takes place in 1978 and a deceptive drug deal. Besides Boogie Nights and Dog Day Afternoon (having watched both recently), what are some movies you think would inspire such a thing? (Really looking for crime movies, well-known or not, that were made in the late 1970’s or ones that take place during that time period.) Thanks!
My father-in-law talks about this movie all the time, but is not fully internet-literate and struggles to find the film/learn fun facts about it. Does anyone have interesting behind-the-scenes tidbits, podcasts that discuss it, or a good (legal) way to access the movie? To be clear, any and everything is great, but I’m not looking for piracy links. Completely happy to pay and access this movie legally.
Have you ever been too scared to tell your parents something that you should’ve probably needed to tell them? (Could be medical, things about school, sexuality, etc.) If so, when and why? (Also sorry if this is too personal or doesn’t make sense. If it is too personal tell me and I will take it down, if it doesn’t make sense, tell me why, and I will edit.)
am i the only one who feels like people were more fully themselves during quarantine and after that they put their "mask" on and changed drastically?
Our calendar system is designed to match the rotation of the planet around it's own axis and around the sun. If a year was a few seconds longer or shorter, it would build up for years and it would be pretty offset by now, and in a few hundred thousand years time it would be completly offset unless we redesigned it to match a year with accuracy down to a second.
so who are you, people?
From the film's production binder:
Also interesting to note that the script for the film lacked any traditional screenplay formatting. Kubrick shot the entire film from what was essentially a long prose treatment. It's also noted in Matthew Modine's Full Metal Jacket Diary that one morning during production Kubrick discovered a dead rabbit in one of the set's artillery craters and was so distraught that he shut down production for the entire day.
I rewatched tenet and holy shot the movie pacing was way more rushed than I remember. The first act moved at an inexcusable pace. There barely any room to breathe and even the “slow” scenes like Kate and the protgranist having dinner the scene had too many cuts with continuity error. I know Chris changed editors and had Jennifer lame edited the movie but holy shit I can’t believe it was her work considering how slow paced her editing work in marriage story was. She never worked on a blockbuster thriller before and I felt she made it fast pace because that what she thought would make the movie exciting because she had no idea how edit a thriller. When I looked at my watch I couldn’t believe it was 2 hours already felt only halfway thru the movie.
Two iconic blockbusters that for many people surpass their predecessors. Decades after their release, these films are arguably still as entertaining and impressive as they were upon their release. If you were forced to choose between these two classic Sci-Fi masterpieces, which would you pick and why? What are your pros and cons of the two in comparison to one another?
Tl;dr - If you were forced to pick between these 2 movies, which would you pick?
Yesterday, I read that both movies were leaving Netflix next month, and since I hadn't watched either movie since the 90s, as well as having free time, I decided to indulge. I haven't laughed so much and so continuously for a long, long time. I recommend watching them posthaste, even if you own one or both movies, because really - don't you need a good laugh?
On my other account I've been getting loads of rewards on a single post, I feel sort of bad that I haven't thanked anyone. Should I be thanking everyone? Is this proper Retiquette?
This song is in a Dead By Daylight (a game) youtube video. It's from 0:00-1:42. Swearing warning. They do curse and this is a 18+ rated game just as a head ups.
The bigger the cheese, the less cheese you get. The bigger The Swiss cheese means more holes and much bigger holes, in that case you have less cheese.
I have watched a lot of Takashi Miikes films, but I've got to say Katakuris is by far one of my favorites. I love Miikes sense of humor. The fact that it's a murder musical just cements it as one of his more memorable films. Well, memorable in the sense that its a slight departure from his usual hyper violent blasts of cerebral stimulation.
As an aside, I've been a Miike fan for a long time and I was a Blade of the immortal fan as well long before his adaptation. It was an immense source of joy when I found out he was to be the one to bring it to life. I was not disappointed.
What is your favorite Miike film?
I was thinking about it and I think it kind of succeeds at what the Director said was them trying to spread awareness in a roundabout way. Thinking about it, and she's right. But all the anger directed at her for sexualizing kids to spread awareness of sexualizing kids, but not at the people who produced it. Any of my friends that talk about it talk about how messed up the director is. But at any point of this films creation, somebody could have stopped it. The producer, the editor, the costume department, the camera people. At any point somebody should have said no this movie shouldn't be made and refused to make it. But now that's it out we're all like what the fuck.
Cause we aren't used to it, but they were. Used to putting their head down and doing whatever it takes to make money. To the point where REAL shit like this happens every day, it being a known secret and ignoring it. Where were the parents who let their 11 year old go to a twerking audition? They had like 600 auditions. Hollywood has had so many skeletons in their closet over the years that I think people are just numb to it. And it takes this shock to the system to make this not the norm. Somebody makes a child snuff film under the guise of raising awareness that gets released on Netflix and there's no confusion who to blame for making it. Meanwhile the movie is out, fucking pedos get their fix while we yell at the makers of the movie.
But hey, that's just showbusiness
A wholesome doofus that goes with the flow and just let's things happen to him. Then he ends up rich.
Throughout the movie, I found David to act in a very artificial way. Deliberate word choice there. He's overly attached, irrational, difficult to relate to. The movie ends with him just sitting and staring at the statue without any response. Love? Isn't that just stalking/creepy for real people?
On the other hand, Teddy loves David and follows him to the ends of the earth and protects him as much as he can out of his devotion. Even "David, don't. You'll break" doesn't seem like something he'd be programmed to do. Protect the other robots in the room? The irony that Teddy acts more "real" in his love than David is almost certainly deliberate. I think the movie is quite intentionally Teddy's story more than David's. And if that's true, I love the idea that the theme is that love can't be programmed but happens to robots/androids anyway.
I think Gigolo Joe's character is there to corroborate that robots not designed to love (though he's designed for....LOVIN heh heh) are the ones who actually end up demonstrating love. His actions are hardly in line with his original programming and seem rather altruistic towards David by the time his role is fulfilled.
Is this a well known theory? I've always thought this about it and most people that have seen it are surprised but upon thought/rewatching agree.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on it!
I've looking for it for a while, no luck, not even international movie posters in general and I was hoping you could help me if you know of any website that has Japanese posters because I really like the aesthetics of them, if someone could guide me on the way to get them it would be very helpful, I plan to print them myself to hang them in the walls of my room, but the quality of most I have found is low resolution.
I did some trolling, they got mad and a parent is gonna bring to the the principle and to the cops, note I’m far away lol, I’m in a different state then them, but is it possible that they can find out who I am or if they can track my account? Or will the cops even give a shit?
I dont get it. Arent there people in this country who are democrats and are religious, oppose abortion, or disagree with the level of welfares? Arent there republicans who are not religious, are all for lgbt support, or agree with abortion rights? Its like people are more obsessed with which 'team' they're on and hating on each other for it. I think that's so simple minded
Its incredible ngl
I know it's debatable but the entire world is divided by this unimaginable line that separates landmasses and waters and coins them in a homogeneous term called nation. It is a force that creates endless conflicts between these so called nations made by fake national heroes.
Simply put, delaying all your movies is not going to save them from loosing money.
This is all my own opinion and speculation, feel free to discuss if you think otherwise.
There are two major reasons for this:
And all of this is even assuming that the pandemic is somehow magically gone by May? Forgive me if my research is wrong but it looks like the US is still getting thousands of new cases every day?? It is stupid blind faith to think that covid will be contained enough to fill theatres in May.
This is also assuming that no theatres have to close permanently due to lack of business, which I expect could happen.
There are many theatres worldwide that are open and need business! You can’t claim to want to ‘save theatres’ if you neglect the ones that are open and ready to show your movies.
Start small. Release Wendy. It had a limited US release earlier this year, but since then I’m not sure if it’s had any wide releases. At least in NZ it hasn’t and it’s not on VOD or Disney+.
I was lucky enough to be able to see it at the New Zealand International Film Festival a couple months ago, and I really enjoyed it. It’s a new movie, it’s a nostalgic story. There are people that will go to see it. It would at least give movie theatres something. And you can release it at drive-in theatres in the US and on Disney+ a month or two later.
Now I’m going to be selfish and specifically ask that you consider New Zealand. Frankly, you’re taking advantage of us. You’re still safely making movies here, eg. Avatar, but you aren’t willing to safely release any movies in our theatres?
I felt especially angry when you didn’t release Mulan in theatres for us. I would have happily gone to see it. You used our wonderful country to make your movie, and I’m told you didn’t even let the film’s crew see it in a theatre. That’s messed up.
I honestly think you should stick to your release schedule. Get something out there this year that isn’t a soulless remake.
As I said before, I think these movies could still lose money in May. Just release them now, simultaneously online and in theatres everywhere where theatres are open.
And I’ve got an idea to help with your online roll out, because people clearly weren’t happy with the $30 ‘Premiere access’ for Mulan.
Cut the price in half. Make Premier Access only $15. That way it’s no more than $25 to subscribe and get the movie. Also, hold it in Premier Access for at least six months. You were really stupid to announce that Mulan would be available at no additional cost in December.
In addition to this, consider releasing the film on regular VOD for a $30 purchase. There are people who can’t afford or don’t want to subscribe to a new streaming service, but would still love to see your movie.
Perhaps that can be a month or two after the Disney+/theatre release.
Just release your movies! On all platforms that are available! You don’t know how long this pandemic is going to last, and you cannot rely on theatres to save your movies, especially if you do nothing to save them.
It's qute the mystery why Warner Bros agreed to give Nolan around $225 million budget for Tenet although he finished it for $200 million but it doesn't change the fact that giving him such a big budget doesn't make any sense. Nolan's trajectory says he'll probably never make a $800+ million movie again. Interstellar made $661 million but Warner expected it to make closer to Inception numbers and Dunkirk was a success but it was still $500 million.
DC movies don't get $200 million budget anymore after Justice League so why should Nolan when his movies don't bring in anywhere near Batman, Aquaman and Wonder Woman numbers? I don't understand why Warner are fine with losing money in order to keep him around when he's past his peak in movie culture.

I personally think this is one of my favorite romance movies of all time, if not one of my favorite movies of all time. I really don't know how to describe how this movie makes me feel other than it fills me up inside with so many emotions at almost every scene. Hearing Johansson's voice say "Hi" is like a warm blanket on a cold day. She is so inviting and you just want to hear her speak more. And hearing Joaquin talk so openly about his loneliness and depression just feels so..natural. No excessive crying, no lashing out, just...talking. Getting it all out and not thinking much about his life other than he's sad and doesn't know what to do about it. I know that feeling.
Anyway, this movie really just made me sit in my bed in silence and contemplate. I didn't cry at the end, but I got close. It made me ponder whether love would be worth pursuing if I could possibly end up like Theodore (Joaquin Phoenix) one day if a relationship ends poorly, the only difference being that I wouldn't have a Samantha (Scarlett) OS by my side to talk to lol.
But that all aside, I just wanted to get your thoughts on the film and what you like or don't like about it.
I’m a pretty calm person, but my music taste is like metal, hardcore EDM, and speedcore songs. I always thought this was ironic and funny, but now I’m wondering if other people are like this.
I want an exciting TV show which is filled with mystery and thrillers and alot of mind boggling twists. Or either of them atleast, so if you have any suggestions, could you please help me out here ?
Hi all, I’m feeling sick of dealing with anxiety and being paranoid about every fucking thing all the time, so I’m looking to the benefits of CBD to help relieve this. I’ve smoked weed with my friends (bc who hasn’t) and I’m wondering if CBD cigs can give you cancer or not
I always hear about people complaining about the various issues it has such as weird laws, high taxes, overpriced property, homelessness, smog etc. but they still earn more than most other states on average. And then you get people saying they’re leaving California- do they actually leave? If they leave the state, which state do they go to instead? How are they doing there with the lower wages & less job networking/opportunities? Please don’t take any offence to my questions btw, I don’t even live in America, just liked to know if it’s worth moving to California.
My brother got a cat RIGHT before lockdown started.
Turns out I'm allergic.
I've been living with the cat for months now. I can't take it. It keeps drooling everywhere and I keep sneezing. Every other day my trash can fills up with tissues.
My family loves the cat and keeps trying to get me to play with it, despite me telling them multiple times that I'm allergic to cats. They even let it run around in my room, spreading drool everywhere.
I seriously can't take it anymore. I can't stand having to go another day in this house with a cat.
What do I do?
I see it a lot. Its not money so what could it be?
The thing is, it has said that all day. The first estimate was for it to arrive tomorrow but it says it’s still in China and the date estimation just says rescheduled delivery.
I have this character design for an RPG-maker game I'm planning on developing. The premise of the game is the character goes through a series of dreams. If she doesn't survive a dream, it inflicts pain and injuries on her in reality. She must figure out the source of these dreams and defeat it before they consume her or destroy her body entirely. Much appreciated.

I’m asking because people say that just saying you’re not racist is not enough to prove that you’re not racist.
So...are you racist?
Trying to remember the name of a movie, possibly a show. So, theres a struggling artist woman whos art starts selling to an anonymous buyer, and it turns out to be her husband. The husband was trying to make her happy, but she finds out its him when she discovers all of her art socked away where he hid it, and she gets angry at him. Thats all I remember... helpp!
Let me say first that I LOVE adventure movies, even more so if they are based on true stories. And despite its flaws, The Lost City of Z made me want to be a freaking explorer!
But, honestly, I feel like someone gave me a delicious, high-quality steak and then poured ketchup all over it. And if you're thinking, "Ooh, that sounds good", shame on you.
This movie had excellent acting, a great history to work with, action and adventure, and so much more, but it was just fucked by the editing. I can't believe it was released like that. I know this is not a very new movie and probably its been discussed before, but how can the director sit down and watch this cut and think, "Yup, nailed it."?
Ah well, just a little vent. I'm glad I watched the movie, but I really think it could've been GREAT instead of just fine.
Hello. I’m a male, 26 years old, 5’6 and I gained about 15lbs over quarantine and moved from a size M to L shirt. I’m 173lbs. I’m not muscular. First of all would it be ok for me to maintain the weight I’m at and just stay in the low 170s or should I lose weight? Second, would wearing a size L t-shirt mean I’m fat? My work pants are size 35 x 27. Any thoughts or comments appreciated!!! Thank you
So this kid from my school wants me to do his English assignments until October, he says he's good on money and that I can set my price but I've NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE SO IDK WHAT SAY? And I don't want him to set the price because for all I know it's too little, so does anybody know the price range for this kind of stuff?
Also don't worry, If he doesn't pay up, I'll fail all his assignments ✨
Cant think of the movie, a scene where a serial killer or mysterious person needs to be identified and a victim is brought into a car whereby they break down crying and say yes this is the man who tried to kill me or along them lines. Nothing else to go apart from this and that the victim is male and in the scene it is heavily raining and he takes a hood down? Is this possibility mindhunter or from a fincher film.
I didn't like this movie nor found it artistic at all whatsoever with quite basic plotline and predictable. I am completely out of the loop. I watched it and had to exit the movie before the ending.
Heres another funny story regarding this movie and which is a occident cause one of my close friends was exactly like that and we had to talk him out of it. He disliked paying for things and always found a way to get things for free and he would go to extreme lengths sometimes going to places where they give free breakfast etc etc and he was not broke at all but just wanted to live for free but honestly it was disgusting behaviour and ripping off people who want to help the needy.
But all in all back to parasite honestly I have no idea why they showered awards with this movie. I know there is alot of politics in the Oscars but it could be one of these years where they wanted to show-off and say hey look we give awards to international movies and it's all fine but hey you forgot to pick a good international movie and there are plenty of these but just not parasite unfortunately
Being called a bitch. Being called a slut for what I'm wearing or sleeping with someone. Being afraid to walk down the street at night or be alone with a man. Being blamed for your rape because of what you were wearing. Women hate each other. Women are always fighting or competing.
The main reason I am asking this, is because our neighborhood is in a split area. So this sign could cause a good bit of tension in the neighborhood. I looked around online but I could not get a definitive answer.
I am not sure if the area at the front if the Neighborhood is owned by the township or if it is just gray property with no owner, so this would also be useful info to know.
By feminized men I mean "chicks with dicks" "traps" "femboys" "crossdressers" "ladyboys" and the like.
Are men more attracted to a performance and costume of femininity than they are to women?
Without getting too specific, I have this family member that I talk to about once a week, rarely more than that. We started talking for the first time in November of last year. Anywho, we last texted each other on the 11th or 12th, and even that was just a couple of texts sent back and fourth. The 13th was my birthday, but he never reached out to wish me a happy birthday, and I'd be lying if I didn't say that hurt. Well on Saturday night I sent him a text, he never responded. So then this early morning I wake up to a friend request on FB from him (he made a new account ig) and I accepted it of course, then just a couple of hours ago, I noticed that he unfriended me.
Am I reading too much into this? Maybe I am overthinking this as usual. But should I send him a text on messanger? Or would that be too pushy?? Need some advice on this, please and thank you.
I have a reputation as a person who "just doesn't like popular things" i like to think that I can back up my opinions. I try not to even bring up things with my friends any more out of fear of being invalidated. Am I just a negative person, or am I allowed to just have my own taste in art , movies ,TV etc. ?
I want to get rid of an old Dell, but it won’t start. Some weird technical error which is well documented online, which can happen when the laptop gets too old.
I want to erase the hard drive before disposing of the laptop (responsibly) because it has a lot of personally identifiable info on it.
How can I erase the hard drive entirely?
I’m almost 18 and don’t drink or vape and my parents seem to not want me too at all. But they seem to be perfectly fine with my younger sister (who is 15) letting her vape and have hard liquor with my family members. Should I feel weirded out by this or am I just being paranoid. She already told me she is addicted to nicotine and I worry for her.
This topic recently peaked my interest and would like to hear some examples I might not have thought of. I've already asked r/AskReddit about this and I didn't get much of a response.
Some examples I already have are:
Minority (usually black) woman whose sole purpose is to be best friends with the attractive white protagonist and gives life-changing advice just before the climax of the movie
The fat woman whose the butt of every joke and no character is allowed to be attracted to unless they are equally as 'pathetic'
I find this a pretty interesting topic and would like to hear your thoughts on it
I've seen all these girls filming some guy they find attractive on a Google meet. It seems to be a trend right now. Man it's just flat out creepy and seems like an invasion of privacy.
Y'all think that's legal??
I'm a 15yr old guy and my GF is (15) is being abused by her parents. She lives in Ireland and I live in America. She's told me countless stories and shown proof of her abuse. Her mom verbally, phisically and emotionally hurts her. She won't report or let others report. She's suicidal and very depressed and said that I help but I want her to be able to cope without me just in case anything ever does happen to me. So reddit, what do I do?
Well, any language that uses thousands of different characters.
End of post.
You and your grandparents have a special opportunity to bond and learn about each other. Ask them question from there past, it will teach you about your heritage and let them know more about yourself. As you probably will fall into simple conversation and learn more about both your lives.
You've got a smart writer, a great director, a low budget, and somehow you get one of the best sci-fi action movies of the last decades, by far.
The cinematography and physical acting are just incredible, the writers, crew, actors and stuntmen really deserve compliments.
I'd love if we could get more movies ilke this one.
Maybe they exist already and are hard to find, but Upgrade shows that you don't necessarily always need to copy paste an older concept or reboot an old franchise to get a hit movie!
You need good ideas and a good execution. It reminds me of older movies like Terminator, coming out with a small budget and becoming classics forever. I'm hungry for more of these.
And the ending, man... oh I'd love to forget it all just to see it again with fresh eyes.
I definitely did underestimate this movie from its trailer. Took me 2 years to watch it.
John Carpenter was absolutely killing it in the 1980s. Escape from NY, The Thing, Christine, Big Trouble in Little China, They Live, etc. However, I’ve seen nobody talk about Carpenter’s work in the 1990s and 2000s. Did he fall off after the 80s? Are any of those movies worth watching? The movies: - Memoirs of an Invisible Man (1992) - In the Mouth of Madness (1995) - Village of the Damned (1995) - Escape from LA (1996) - Vampires (1998) - Ghosts of Mars (2001) - The Ward (2010)
There’s a big stretch of woods behind the cemetery where we’ve seen a few of them during a full moon. Also, once we met some goth kids at the cemetery and hung out for a little bit, til we all saw them[the cloaked people] coming out of the woods with their cloaks and lanterns and going into the little historical (revolutionary war era) church in the cemetery grounds near the tree line. There had to have been at least a couple dozen of them. The church was also all lit by candle light. We booked it, but now I think maybe we should have checked it out....
also there’s always been a lot of rumors about animal sacrifices in those woods, and people finding animal bones and old fire spots in a ritual sort of way... so maybe it’s better we ran?
My mother passed away this April. We want to take some of her ashes with us to California to put in the ocean. We will be flying. Anyone have any knowledge of what we have to do to take some of her ashes on the plane?
Even in the taperoll, tape sticks to the back of itself.
Like, what are they gonna do? Twitch nervously? Turn on and off my one lamp? At least I don't have to get out of bed.
Everything about it was great and it gives me chills every time. It was epic, emotional and the score that goes with it is amazing. It was cool seeing all the different baddies from other movies show up such as the trolls, dementors and spiders and it also has a few funny scenes aswell that fit well with it, "I always wanted to do that spell" by McGonigall for example. I also loved how all the characters from previous movies came together to defent Hogwarts and Nevilles speech is amazing at the end of it when Voldy thought he had won.
Inspector Fred Abberline is determined to track down Jack The Ripper in Victorian-era East London. As well as his Sergeant Peter Godley, Abberline is helped on the case by visions he has while high on opium, and adding urgency to his investigations is 'unfortunate' Mary Kelly, a potential Ripper victim with whom the Inspector is falling in love.
im just curious, my top 6 not necessarily in this order but
1)The lord of the rings
2)2001 a space odyssey
3)Tron Legacy
4)Apocalypse now
5)Gladiator
6)Brave heart
Im just trying looking for good soundtracks that i mightve miss and to see what does other people think are the best movie soundtracks
Okay so.. Imagine this...
You are a business man with a concealed carry license. You live both a civilian life and military life. If you see a robbery or assault happened BOOM you're there to stop it. An organized militia of sorts that protects their communities from harm should they see it. Obviously you'd have to be experienced with your weapon of choice and good at at least one martial art (Not really a requirement, just something I'd do )
The thought of an organized and recognized undercover militia always sounded cool to me.. It's like you're Mafia but for the good guys :P
Edit : Doesn’t have to be undercover per se lmao
Hello and sorry for my bad english in advance. So a couple of month ago I found an old friend of mine on Instagram and asked, if she would remember me etc. She said yes but she thought it would be inappropriate to text with me since she has a boyfriend now.
Fast forward a couple of month and a friend of mine pointed out that her sister (we were friends as well) has instagram as well and that I should text her.
Maybe for the context. We went to school together since they moved to my city but one year later they had to move away again. They moved a lot. In the time we were in the same school and we bacame friends and hung out from time to time. But we sadly lost contact fast since they moved like 150 km away and we were quite young (like 13 or so. Now I am 22 and they are 21 and 23) so we couldn't keep contact for long.
So should I try to contact her as well or could it come over as weird?
I am looking forward to see what you guys think. Have a nice day and stay safe!
I’m looking for recommendations on where to go to find someone who would be interested in investing in me. I want to be a streamer but I can’t afford the equipment necessary. I was just interested in seeing if there’s a way to get started😊 websites, programs, amazon gift card giveaways, anything😋thanks for everything 😁
You have not broken a law
Your driving is good and safe.
You do not have a criminal record and there is no reason to be suspicious of you or your activities.
You are not carrying any weapons of any sort or have any substances.
You are basically behaving like a saint.
A corrupt police officer pulls you over, meets you at your car window, asks you to step out of the vehicle, does not provide sincere explanation why he/she wants you to step out or blatantly lies or uses some generic excuse such as "for my safety" or "for your safety" or just says "because I told you so".
You know without a doubt this officer's intentions are at best "not good" and no backup has arrived. There are no witnesses nearby that you are aware of.
What do you do? What do you say? What do you not say? How long do you resist? What threat do you submit to?
I welcome all responses. Please share what you think and what you know and what you would do.
I remember watching a meteor style disaster movie when I was younger (sometime before the year 2007) and I can't figure out the name of it.
What I remember is that they evacuated an entire city (probably LA) before the first one hit. There was one person doing a last check and spotted someone who had failed to evacuate. So they picked the people up and drove over to the bridge just as the meteor hit the dam.
The dam broke and and so a huge wave of water started and they ended up being stuck on the bridge while the water came.
That's really all I remember of the movie so I'm hoping this is enough for someone to be able to help me figure out the name.
*It's also likely I watched this movie on the sci-fi channel.
QUERY SOLVED!
It was Asteroid from 1997.
My boyfriend is 33 yo and I'm 18f He was my teacher and that probably make you think that he is trying to abuse me but i was the one that took the first step I just wanted to know what do you guys think about this age gap? Sorry for bad english btw
Any info may be misleading as the memory is 12 years old
It tasted like bread combined with rice, it was circular in shape and very, very crispy. 2-4 centimeters in diameter iirc. Maybe it was a rice cracker or something? I’ve been to several other asian restaurants but haven’t encountered it ever since. I visited the restaurant in Germany, probably in dortmund. The texture of the food looked like the white part of bread.
At the moment, after years of research, i think they are rice chips or prawn crackers. Prawn crackers are made out of shrimps, but who knows, at that age i’ve never tasted shrimp before and maybe it is the one.
What is this food?
Similar to the likes of The Virgin Suicides/Mean Creek etc. I find these films gems and original in nature. Even Donnie Darko as that has a quite a few levels of introspect/unique nostolagic properties. But I haven't found another film quite like it, via the storyline and excellent soundtrack, for instance, I'm not in the mood for something like Enter The Void.
Now of course, I don't want to get too depressed or anything like that. I mean, I can go that way if worth it, but I'm really into/attracted to the style of these other films mentioned from a cinematography, emotional and aesthetic stance.
Appreciate it and thank you in advance
I want to make a video essay on character development in Pixar films, and why I think it’s great. So I need a movie (or series of movies) that have bad character development. I’m going to use it as comparison. It can even be a good movie, I don’t care. This video is very important because I need to settle an argument.
All that being said I would prefer it be on Netflix, Hulu, or Disney+, but it doesn’t need to be on any of those streaming services.
I've no joke started an actual potato garden.
Now that the important things are out of the way, let's talk about the movie!
At first glance: It feels like some kind of a prequel to Interstellar. You've got: Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, NASA, space, cool ass space suits, survival!
Some parts are very unrealistic: for instance>! Sean Bean doesn't die!<
And like its version of the "honest trailer" says... "Travel to a world where NASA is super popular and fully funded..."
Oh this is a must watch. What do you think?
So there are a lot of movies that I want to see but I never got to see, and I'm wondering which of these movies I should or shouldn't watch. Please help me narrow down my watchlist.
Here's my watchlist:

I watched a short movie on Youtube some time ago, and I really cannot remember the name. I think it might have been some sort of independent movie. It was about a city, where scientists found a drug that cured a certain illness but it turned out to have some bad side effects. I clearly remember one scene, where a woman was waiting in her car and another woman (on drugs) was crazily running towards her from far away and then attacked her. I know it's not much :( I hope someone will help me out!
I look at the united states and that is what it is. Obviously the USD is king globally and the petrodollar. I look at third world countries and wonder why hypothetically they couldn't do this. I understand realistically why but I am more so asking is this all just a bunch of bull shit. If a third world country needs more businesses to have a better economy would it not work to just print money and create debt?
serious i don't get it. I believe that no one is born exactly the way they want to be. Or exactly into the situation they could be. Why not accept your nature and make the best of it?
Is there any way to download free version of mac OS to install in my Virtual Box?
I hope that makes since, if not then IDFK!
Blood of Heroes. Post Apocalyptic, sports movie, starring Rutger Hauer, Vincent D'Onofrio and Joan Chen. Not to mention written and directed by David Webb Peoples ( screen writer of Blade Runner, Ladyhawke, Unforgiven, 12 Monkeys). Worth a look for no other reason than Mad Max football. Follow exiled League star as he and his team fight to earn enough dog skulls to qualify for an official game. And that's pretty much it. No great moral pathos or unnecessary love interest. Just dusty, violent, vaguely defined blood matches. Good stuff. Looks like it's currently available on Prime.
I have just finished watching 'Cuties' and I feel like a lot of people who complain about it have not really watched the film. I have watched the French version with English subtitles.
The following will be spoiler heavy, just so you know.
CONTEXT:
The main character of the film (Amy) has to deal with a very traditional family, with a dad that's gone back to Senegal and married a second wife, a mother that's not paying much attention to her, and an aunt that wants to push her traditional values onto her. Those values include subordinancy to a future husband, arranged marriage, and so forth.
Meanwhile at school she sees a number of girls who are 'freeer', and at first bully her for how Amy's dressed. These girls are part of a dance group called 'Les Mignonnes'. ('the Cuties' in english) who are practising for a contest.
Amy gets more in contact with this western world through a smartphone she stole, and also starts to dress more revealing outside of her family's sight. She becomes friends with one of the girls of that group, and after filming them in a dance routine, she starts to learn the dance moves, until she gets to replace one of the other girls (because of a falling out over her turning on the webcam while they were trolling someone online)
From here on they dance more for the contest, and auditions are held.
Amy however was too late as her aunt made her help in preparation for her fathers' and his new wives' wedding. she later explains this in tears to the group, who at first accuse her of not taking the dancing seriously, but after she cries (with desperation) they believe her.
At some point her aunt and mum perform an excorcism of sorts on a clearly confused and distressed Amy, for 'dressing like a whore'. Amy stands shaking heavily while her mum and aunt chant and drizzle/spray water over her. she eventually falls to her knees and the scene ends with her twerking (I understand what the makers were trying, I wouldn't have filmed it like this)
The Cuties are placed for the 'dance-offs' on stage, and a second scene happens that's filmed with the girls twerking and dancing in ways they shouldn't, filmed like a video clip (dear director, why?)
At school they run into another dance group, and after a can of soda is thrown towards the Cuties, Amy starts a fight with that girl, ending in her 'raggy old' underwear being visible and put online.
The Cuties are not happy with this, as it takes attention away from their dancing videos. (and thus their popularity) and makes them look like children(in their words)
To remedy this, Amy decides to upload a nude of herself online, before her stolen phone is taken off of her. Because of this she's kicked out of the group, and the girl they kicked out before is replacing her.
On the day the 'dance-offs' are taking place, Amy throws this girl in the river (nearly drowning her) and takes her place, begrudged by the Cuties, but still accepted)
This final performance on stage shows the Cuties doing another twerk routine, booed on by a disapproving audience. At some point Amy stops and runs off back to home, where her mum finally stands up for her, and tells her she doesn't have to go to her dad's wedding. She then finally is seen walking outside, playing skip rope with some other girls (as an 11 year old should do)
THOUGHTS:
I feel like I had to describe half the film just to get some points across, so my thoughts on it all:
It's clear throughout the film that Amy lacks parental supervision, as her mum at no point really seems to care about her (until the very end) and is completely oblivious about her dance posse.
The movie does at one point acknowledge that the behaviour will attract the wrong kind of people (in one scene the Cuties accuse a guard of being a pedo, and then another guard steps in, who is)
I would say that everything that is shown apart from 2 scenes was okay. the excorcism turning into twerking and the twerking 'music video' were out of place. The 'dance-off' scene had a purpose, as it shows the girls doing a thing which is finally disapproved on by an audience, which did not happen at any other point throughout their performances.
In the end I feel that the core message of this film is that parental guidance is really needed in this day and age where there's so many bad role models on the internet. And children are very susceptible to copy that behaviour, without understanding why it's wrong.
Out of the 95 minutes, about 4 minutes shows the Cuties dancing and twerking, and they could have been filmed in a less sexual way while retaining the message. I also feel like a lot of reviews are very biased, as people are more likely to view/read whichever confirms their worldview. The US release of this film was done in the worst possible way, and I hope the people who approved of the marketing will be sacked.
