Looking for a Loki Mask from the movie "The Mask." Help
I've been wanting to get an exact high quality replica of the Mask of Loki from "The Mask." So far, there are two places that I'm looking at. One is a seller from Etsy and the other is from Reelart.com.
The Esty seller's is a deluxe package that comes with a custom display plaque. It's a 1:1 scale prop made from resin, using the first generation mold used in the original movie, and has been hand painted by an industry professional in the USA. He's charging $4.50. $492 when you include sales tax. https://www.etsy.com/listing/634536696/the-mask-loki-mask-with-plaque-custom
Reelart's is also a 1:1 scale prop, using the original mold and made from resin. It also includes an easel for display. Including sales tax, it costs $87. http://www.reelart.net/loki-mask-the-mask-jim-carrey-cameron-diaz-with-clear-easel-special-limited-edition/
I know what everyone is thinking: "Ummm, duh! Go with the cheaper, Reelart mask!" But what's really confusing me is that if they are both made using the same mold, the same material and are painted the same way, why does does the Etsy mask cost so much more?
I'm really on the fence. Both masks look really good, but I don't know which direction to go. Hopefully you guys can help me out.

Compiling The "Revenge Against The Rich" Subgenre
So I've noticed that "Revenge Against The Rich" has become a very popular theme in movies these days. (With inequality being as bad as it is, no wonder)
I thought it would be fun to compile a list of movies that fit this theme, must be within the last 5-10 years.
Some that come to mind off the top of my head are
Parasite, Snowpiercer, Ready or Not, Us, Get Out, Knives Out, Ready Player One, Hunger Games

Been rewatching the series and got to thinking when they mention Muggle Borns, or half wizard half muggle, being able to use magic is technically their genetic mutation, and they pass on that mutation when they procreate, sometimes it can even happen with people who don't have it
Like with the X-Men . And mutants in general in marvel. Harry Potter may as well be a superhero .

Best chemistry between actors on screen
What movies have the most sparks between their lead romantic pairings? Really dumb rom coms can be elevated by a spiciness between the lead actors, while even the best movies are dragged down if its clear the leads hate each other. So how about it? I'm cool with all genres and time periods. I'm just curious which films r/movies thinks has the most sizzle. But I'll say I think cartoons don't count because it's the animators the characters into each other, I'm looking more for movies where its a happy accident (or maybe deliberate casting by the director) that the romantic pairing clearly has a palpable passion.

Gary Oldman is in way more mediocre movies than I expected
I feel it’s not uncontroversial to say that Oldman is one of the best actors working today, and has been for a long time. He just won an oscar, and there’s a good chance he will again for “Mank”. For some reason, and i’m not sure why cause other good actors are in mediocre movies, I characterized him as one of those actors (like Christian Bale or Dicaprio) who are only in high level roles.
I’m watching TAU now and was surprised to see him in a role like that. But I checked his IMDB and apparently he’s in a lot of B and C level movies, like “Criminal”, “Mary”, “Killers Anonymous”, “Hunter Killer”. Ones that aren’t even major releases. Not saying there’s anything wrong with this but just found it very surprising

Futuristic A woman living in a high-tech home, vocal commands for everything, giant wall size tv, etc. The society forbids physical contacts because of potential contagion. The woman looks at nature scene on her tv and doesnt know its reality or tv special effects.

EuroVision is actually incredible. I just finished it and I was crying by the end (not /s).
My girlfriend asked if we could watch it this weekend. I saw a shitpost on r/movies a few days ago that bespoke of Eurovision being one of the worst movies they'd ever seen, and comments about how they didn't sit through the first 20 minutes.
I was skeptical. Checked the IMDB, Rachel McAddams, Will Ferrell, and Adam Mckay? I haven't ever seen a bad McAddams movie and Adam McKay is almost always a rockstar producer. Let's watch it.
It has some corny, typical Will Ferrell parts but this feels like a Will Ferrell movie. It's up there with Talladega Nights, StepBrothers, Anchorman, etc. It's not quite on Anchorman level, more like Blades of Glory, but it's pretty solid. And loving. And shows the struggles of the LBGTQ community in Europe, and is powerful, and man, it's so good.
I'm not going into spoilers but the love of their hometown, the struggle of a man with a disappointed father, the forbidden love, it's just an all around great movie.
The movie has beautiful music, gorgeous scenery, a heart breaking story with dynamics and volume. It's great.
Spoiler:
I started crying during the finale song whenever Rachel McAddams started singing about her hometown, in icelandic, and seeing the struggle of her hometown start to adore and appreciate them. Then whenever the couple got home, got off the bus to their hometown with a newspaper titled "Iceland loses Eurovision but wins hearts."
God damn. I started tearing up even explaining to my girlfriend after about why I'm tearing up. No, my eyes aren't sweaty today and I haven't been cutting onions, we just watched a surprisingly great movie.

Jarhead (2005): A war film made from the viewpoint of a psychological thriller
Discussing Jake Gylanhaal on this sub might be unoriginal at this point, but he’s a phenomenal actor, definitely one of the best his generation has to offer. He gives us a disturbed and visceral glimpse into the mindset of Swofford as he slowly descends into madness while fighting in the Persian Gulf.
Swofford is someone who feels he needs to prove himself in war to justify his existence (His own conception symbolising this) or to maintain his own perception of honour. When he finds out he’s going to war he jumps at the chance that he can finally achieve honour and glory in combat, earning self respect and finally being able to earn the same markings his father received after Vietnam. It’s important to note he constantly compares himself and his role in war to Vietnam, (perhaps a symbol of his father and how he looked down on him) and there’s plenty of Vietnam imagery to show what he expected to find in war (apocalypse now, the vet near the end)
As he waits, and waits for the war to begin he begins to lose his mind, his purpose in life is so close he can touch it but it isn’t quite there yet. His demotion after the Christmas Eve incident is a catalyst for his boredom and frustration turning into violent rage as he shoves his rifle in front of and threatens Fergus, probably my favourite scene out of the entire thing and one that shows Gyllenhaals incredible versatility as an actor.
When the war does start it is against an enemy he never meets and never sees, he stands there blithely unresponsive as shells explode around him, demonstrating not only his disbelief at finally being at war but also him observing the futility of his role as he realises he won’t be fulfilled any time soon. Later when he finally gets the chance to do the one job he trained for in shooting dead the Iraqi commander in the gutted building , what he was waiting to do for months he feels completion for a few minutes. This is what war was supposed to be to him. He is what he believes a soldier should be. But he never gets the chance to be a soldier and fulfil himself, technology (another key theme in the story) races ahead of him again and does the job quicker, yet again.
This film is an absolutely fantastic character study, given its themes of monotony and boredom I thought it was appropriate to revisit it especially given the current circumstances. If you’ve seen it before, go and watch it again. If you haven’t, I couldn’t recommend it enough, it’s one of my favourite war films

What is your favorite western film?
Mine is The Hateful Eight, I liked how the movie was a mixture of a whodunnit and was also a western. What made the movie great was that it had a ton of unpredictable moments and it’s easily one of my favorite films from Quentin, I also like the fact that everyone died so it gave the movie a sense of realism as it wasn’t set up to where one of the passengers ended up fulfilling their goal, instead they died while trying to.

So I finally watched The Lighthouse
This film was pretty unsettling to say the least. I was entertained by it overall but I was very disturbed by it, but that's what good horror flicks are supposed to do I guess. I can count on my fingers the amount of horror movies I've seen, but this one was probably the freakiest I've seen. I have to say I was pretty confused by it at certain points such as when Ephriam revealed his actual name to be Thomas so it made it hard to distinguish his character from the other Thomas. Also, the accents were pretty hard to understand, but I just turned on subtitles and I was fine after that. The couple of minutes was probably the most disturbing part of the entire film (at least for me). I was a bit confused by it, but I think it has to do with the monologue that Wake was giving when "Ephriam" said he didn't like his cooking.
I've read some comments online about how The Lighthouse was snubbed for many categories and I definitely agree. It only got a nomination for cinematography, which it deserved. Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson should have been at least nominated for their parts. The sound was awesome, the editing was great, and a directing nomination for Robert Eggers would not feel out of place. I don't really know if it would feel weird if it was nominated for best picture, but I wouldn't complain if it was.
I was intrigued by this flick, but I think I will need to watch it at least a one or two more times to fully understand it, which I wouldn't mind doing at all.

Looking for the name of a scary movie. It was a move recent movie (10-15 years).

[MULAN,2020][SPOILERS]
I was so flippin' excited for feature Mulan this Spring! Its been painful to wait for so long because of the quarantine. Seeing the upcoming adaptation from animation to CGI should be incredible. The previews gave away a lot of information about the movies, hence the [SPOILERS] tag if you don't watch previews:
The invading army has a witch dressed in beautiful flowing forest robes, but her magic is something fantastic! Like in Harry Potter where people can turn into animals this witch has the same power, but unlike in, say, HP1 where McGonnogal changes feom a cat into a human; Disney's Mulan actually shows the transformation process as opposed to focusing on a shadow of the transformation due to budget/technology. The preview for the transformation was stunning. And that's just what got me excited to begin with. When they roll out Mulan in her beattoful red dress the link between film and CGI truly does merge into one perfect world: standing atop a waterfall, overlooking a lush valley below, Mulan harnesses her magic and leaps from the cliff! The CGI works its magic, the redd dress flowing prefectly into the feathers of a phoenix, he face transforming into that of a majestic bird, and all the while a 3D view of the scene takes the viewer into a new world as the screen takes a prespective from behind Mulan as she dives and then flies out of the valley! Honestly the scenery reminded me of Avatar-level world generation. The preview alone was so beautiful, I simply must see this movie!

Favourite director of gangster films?
Title says it all. Who do you think is the best at making gangster films? And also, which film in particular?
Obviously martin Scorsese is great, But is there a director you think has mastered the gangster genre?
I think Francis Ford Coppola hit the nail in the head with the godfather. It can’t be beaten. But there’s many other directors that have made great films in the genre.
My favourites include:
Carlitos way - Brian de palma
American gangster - Ridley Scott
There’s no right answer so argumentative people give it a rest
Also particular films as well ?

Aside from Goodfellas and Scarface what is your favorite gangster/mobster movie ever?
I excluded Goodfellas and Scarface because I know they are held high in regard as the greatest gangster movies of all time, and I didn’t want a thread where we were giving out the same answer. My favorite gangster movie of all time besides those 2 is A Bronx Tale, it doesn’t have much gangster action in the movie but I still think it qualifies to be known as one, one of the greatest coming of age films of all time.

I have several ideas for potential cosplays and costumes for the coming years, and one thats been on my list is Baron Samedi as I've always had a sincere fascination with him. However, as I am neither a practicer of Haitian Voodoo, nor of African American decent, I worry about coming off as insensitive, rude, ignorant, or appropriating. I have no qualms with abandoning the idea if this is the case, it's just a geniune concern for causing anyone undue discomfort or offense.

Did a waiter tell me to lie about tip?
So I did a curbside order pickup and had used my credit card to pay online. I was given the option to tip online but did not give a tip because I was using a friends card. When I received my food at the curbside I was somewhat generous and gave a 20 dollar tip. What stood out to me was that the waiter was surprised by the tip and when he gave me the receipt to sign he told me to write 0 on tip amount given on the receipt. Why did he tell me to write 0 when I gave him a 20 dollar tip? Would he be able to keep more money if I wrote 0 on the receipt?

Immortals/Vampires?
I know im gonna get a lot of hate and dumb answers for this question therefore I created a throwaway account.
I've made many experiences with supernatural things and have come to the conclusion that almost everything is possible nowadays, and there is so much we dont know about or that we dont understand. So much is being hidden from us, from society to make us calm dumb sheep that do exactly what is expected of them, so much is being covered up neatly, and usually the things you can find the least abput online are the things cocered up best. (like when it comes to alien stuff, a lot of what I've been able to find a few years ago has been deleted except for a few things that dont take the subject seriously so it wouldnt be suspicious.. But it is)
I've had a portion of whats out there, now I need to ask... Are there any Immortal beings out there? I guess im looking for REAL 'vampires' or something like that but I assume they wouldnt call themselves that and i know they wouldnt be like they are in the movies and such. Thats not what im looking for. I dont need any dumb answers like "no sorry" and no responds from people of the 'vampire' culture that self identify as psy/sang, etc. These are also just humans who dont understand their own nature and the way the world works with energy transmission.
Im looking for someone that is immortal in some way or form. Or perhaps someone who has made experiences with such creatures. If you are someone like that PLEASE feel free to contact me through dm bc I would die to learn more.
If there was another place I could ask or make contact I would, but with reddit chances of reaching what I am looking fore are probably the highest, especially since everybody can be pretty much anonymous.
And no, I am not some dumb teenager, yall can call me crazy all you want I dont care.

I f****** hate my job
I have been doing the same job for the past 6 years. I'm extremely dissatisfied and I've been wanting to quit since my first year in this ****hole. But I couldn't. Now that we have corona virus things are even worse than ever.
Please don't get me wrong , I know that many people lost their jobs and their lives have turned upside down because of that and that i should be grateful that I even have a job.
But as I've said. I've been wanting to quit this job since my first year. And every now and then I'd be on the look out for some jobs here and there. But the problem is... I got nothing to offer.
Now you might say that " if you have worked hard enough and tried to prove yourself at work things would have been different or you'd get promoted and stuff"
But you see, where I work. Only incompetent useless and scammimg Wiesels get to get away with everything.
I'm a hard working man and I always try to do l job in the most professional way possible and do as im instructed But you see, where I work things don't go the way they're supposed to like some well respected companies.
People who slack off, with zero knowledge and terrible at their job are never held accountable. And im always forced to clean the mess they leave behind. And no matter what I do , it's never enough for anyone...
Im extremely frustrated and angry.. This place has crushed my spirit.
There's no way to develop or grow where I work. And only people with connections can reach higher positions.
I havent finished college, and I really have no skill and I feel like I have nothing to offer. Therefore I can't get any better job.
I'm stuck in this place and I feel like my life is a living hell. I can't take it anymore. I can't spend another minute doing this job and I don't even wanna work with the same retards ever again.
What should I guys... Can you share your thoughts ?

My friend is getting accused for rape and I'm confused (TLTR)
*if you don't want to hear the backstory listen to the "*" portion further down*
This might be a long story, so prepare yourself. Back in my senior (HS) year, I had a friend who was dating this girl. When they started he was a senior (HS), and she was a sophomore (HS). They were intimate, and everything was all good. They were madly in love with each other, spending a lot of time, and everything was alright—butterfly and sunshine from here.
As time passed, they grew more intimate with each other and were doing things high school students do, aka sex. It's not surprising that they were having sex in a nine so month relationship, and it was consensual. She wanted it, and he wanted it all good, or so I suppose.
Speed up the time, and it's November of the following year, and he's a Freshman in college, and she was a junior in hs. Things were getting roughed with long-distance as he was an hour away from everyone else. So in high school, all of his friends, also my friends, keep seeing his girlfriend with this other guy. She claimed that it was her "guy friend" and they spend time together. A lot of time.
It all sounds believable at the time. Then it starts escalating when the "guy friend" or his girlfriend would have hickeys, so as bro's, we notified him. He began to get anxious and insecure about his relationship and started to track her location. They had each other's location shared before, so he would see that she wasn't home but at another person's house (his house).
The following day or two, he came back home and talked with her. She confessed that she started having feelings for this other guy and was doing things with him. They later broke up, and my friend was in great pain as his first relationship shattered. He didn't eat for a while, do anything, other depression stuff, and his family was concerned.
My friend and his now ex-GF talked for a bit, and he requested if he can have the stuff he gave her back like hoodies, shirts, etc. She agreed that she should give it back, but she also adds to the text, "Are we going to do anything?" (sexual wise)
He replied, "we don't have to if you don't want to."
Their conversation kept going, and it turned into a horny convo between them, and he said if she wanted to do something, wear the pink shorts he has gotten her. He bought her these shorts that he liked to see her in, I guess. Fast forward, they met each other to return the clothes he gave her.
She put the clothes in the car but sat in the car looking like she was waiting for something. My friend was confused, but he knew what she was waiting for. As time went on, about 2 mins - 5 mins, nothing still happened. She later revealed that she was indeed wearing the pink shorts under her sweatpants, and I'm guessing from there they proceeded to do it (I stopped listening to this portion because it was very explicit and I didn't want my virgin ears to hear it).
So yeah, they had broken up sex and kept in mind that she has already started a committing relationship with the other guy. Now, this is where the rape accusation comes up...
Boy 1(Friend, Girl(Boy'1 gf), boy 2(girl2 new bf)
* Boy 1 and girl have been dating for almost a year or two (ill ask for the accurate time, but it was def about a year) and they broke up because girl was seeing another person but was also doing intricate stuff with boy2. She was going to boy2's house and getting hickeys while she was in a relationship with boy 1. They later broke up, and boy 1 was depressed and sad while girl was already in another committed relationship with boy2. Boy1 wanted girl to return the clothes he gave her, and girl agreed. She returns the clothes, but before she returned it, they had a horny conversation with each other saying if they were going to do anything. Boy 1said if she wanted to do anything, wear these shorts he got her. She got to his car and wore the shorts and they proceeded to do stuff. Fast forward two years later. Girl posted a story on Instagram saying he raped her and manipulated her to do sexual things during their relationship and raped her after they broke up. Things are out of hand, and a lot of people are starting to hate on him and calling him a rapist*
My point of view and what i heard. She wanted to do something in the car post-breakup and mid intercourse she decided she should stop but didn't say anything or walked out of the car. She also hinted that she wanted to do something and even wore the shorts he told her to wear if she wanted to have intercourse. I don't want to call it to rape in the car bc she gave the consent with the shorts, but I don't know. Also, she claimed he manipulated her through the entire relationship, but we found old letters she wrote to him saying how much she loved him at the time. I don't think this is necessary to mention, but he dug the letters when they broke up because he was heartbroken, and we went on a treasure hunt yesterday to prove he didn't manipulate her, and we found it. Like it was out of a movie lol. But yeah, I want to know your opinion on this situation, and if you guys want to read her side and his defense, ill post it. Also, a screenshot of their convo b4 they met up to return the clothes. Dw, I have permission from him to share this stuff.
Also, there's a whole social media wave of this whole topic where I'm from.

Is the world that bad?
Is the World That Bad? Is all the stuff we're seeing on the news,in popular culture, and in general conversation about political polarization, corona virus, antifa, white nationalists, donald trump, attempted marxist revolution, racism, china, the youth becoming increasingly narcissistic, lazy, impressionable, and otherwise useless really the norm or is it an aspect of bad news sells papers and that the far left left has always been big in Hollywood. yes, fear does keep people glued to the tv and helps ratings. young "adults" not being able to use a can opener or change a tire, and people not knowing any of the basic facts surrounding things they have strong opinions on makes for cheap comedy. because when i walk down the street everyday all i see for the most part is regular people trying to live regular lives. any thoughts?

The Verdict (1982) starring Paul Newman is an amazing film and you should see it...
I recently re-watched a pile of Paul Newman movies (Hud, The Hustler, The Color of Money, Road to Perdition) and The Verdict is perhaps one of his most overlooked performances.
Written by David Mamet and Directed by Sidney Lumet, the movie follows an ambulance chaser / alcoholic attorney (played by Newman) who is forced to face his fears of being a washed-up has-been, when he chooses to take a difficult case to court.
In his personal life, Newman had some alcohol issues and made this movie 4 years after his son died of drug overdose. Great channeled performance in this film (also, if you're not familiar with Newman's work, this is the mini-doc I made about his life as an actor: https://youtu.be/YDTAPYKkXZs )

Space Cowboys
With the love for space films in the last few years (Gravity, Interstellar, First Man, Ad Astra etc...)
Does anybody else have an affinity for Space Cowboys? Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland and the late great James Garner, essentially acting out their sci-fi fantasies?
Also an early test of the "de-aging" trend where it was younger actors with older dubbed voices.
It's entirely forgettable but just wanted to see the general consensus on this movie.

Are there any live-action fantasy films like Cool World or Roger Rabbit where real humans interact with anime characters?
I thought this was a cool idea they should do in a mainstream American film since anime is so trendy as of recent years, and I also wondered if there’s any that exist.
It’d be interesting to see a relationship between the main character and a female anime character since this is something so many weebs fantasize about and actually incorporate a good story such as Cool World.
Open to a discussion on this as well!

Please help
So I just finished my freshman year of college. My first semester I dated a girl that I went to high school with (about an hour and a half away) before she broke it off with me when I came back for Christmas because we were going down two separate paths and it had been deteriorating for some time. She was a tad bit controlling anyways, even going as far as to say she didn't want me playing football after high school (wasn't good enough anyways, I was a 190 OT, but wanted to go to a school to try and walk on) and even said I was gonna be just like my dad, who had recently cheated on my mom, which is something that stuck in my head for a while because I would never do that, but people have always said my dad and I were just alike.
Before we broke it off I met this girl who lived in my building and we became really good friends (never saw her as anything more than a friend when I was still dating the other girl, I don't cheat and would feel awful about that). When I get back, we started hanging out more and I started to catch stronger feelings for her. We share a lot of common interests, have the same sense of humor and I was just always happy hanging out with her. This is gonna sound cheesy as hell, but I've never met somebody like her whose smile can absolutely turn my entire day around no matter what. She had a boyfriend that went to another school a few hours away so I didn't want to be a homewrecker, but I finally confessed my feelings for her when she asked about it because she was suspecting it.
Regardless, we kept being friends and hanging out. We used to go to the karaoke bar that was next to campus every Tuesday and she actually managed to get me to sing despite my stage fright (granted I was usually a couple of beers in), she would come see me at work between her classes (I took early classes and she took afternoon classes, I worked at a little store on campus) and we'd go eat at the dining hall all the time. Then her bf cheated on her. She told me and said she had some feelings for me too. Now here's the crazy part; the guy came down there to apologize to her the weekend I had to go home to watch my brother's soccer game, so it didn't work out at first. Then, he went and did the same thing, so she was done with him completely and we tried to start a relationship...the last week before they sent us home because of the pandemic, and we live a little over two hours apart. That week we dated was in all honesty the best week I'd ever had. We hung out every day like usual, but we got closer, we realized how happy we made each other. It was just incredible and going back home was the worst possible thing in my mind. At first we felt it wouldn't cause any kind of disruption and it started out ok, we would watch movies and Facetime every night, made a list of stuff we wanted to do when the pandemic ended, I even went to go see her back in May, but over time we realized that such a new relationship was weird starting this way and a little over a month ago she texted me saying she didn't feel she was in a good place for a relationship and that it wasn't fair to me for her to do that to me. We talked and we still want to be friends like we always have been and we know that if we do start trying to date again when we go back we would have to start back from scratch and we couldn't just pick up where we left off.
Now here's where I feel awful. About a week ago my friend asked me to go to one of my old wrestling teammate's 21st party, and of course I did drink a little. I don't think I was necessarily drunk, but that's besides the point. I hooked up with somebody I knew from high school and I felt awful about it. I knew I wasn't in a relationship, but I still had strong feelings for her and I want a relationship in the future. I don't do meaningless sex like that, and I honestly don't know how other people can, it's been killing me. I've always been honest with her, she knows my past and I want to tell her the truth because I can't stand lying to people, especially her. The feelings I have for her are some I've never experienced before and I want to be with her again. My friends/family have told me "people make mistakes" and "it was meaningless and you're single so it's ok" but I don't know what to do. I know I didn't "cheat" but I'm a relationship kind of person and this is driving me crazy because I know that isn't who I am. I even talked to the friend I hooked up with, she said she knows it wasn't me and apologized for "initiating it" but I feel like a horrible person for hooking up. I know that it wouldn't have even crossed my mind to agree to that if I was in a relationship at the time.
The girl from college and I still "talk" everyday (mainly Snapchat streaks but we still talk) and I would like to know if I should tell her now or wait and see if we start dating when we go back. I hate hiding stuff and lying, and I know I might not actually be doing either of those, but I know I'd tell her if she asked and I've always been very open and honest with her about everything. She's my best friend and I want nothing more than to be with her when we go back. I really appreciate it and thank you all.
**TL;DR;** : I still have strong feelings for a girl that I was with at college and we broke up when we got sent home bc of covid, but we're still friends and may reconnect when we get back. I hooked up with somebody and now I feel guilty. I would like to know if I should tell her, but it's a long story. Please actually read the details if it's not too much to ask.

Did I do the right thing?
LPN for 10 years in LTC. During COVID-19 we had an infected hall. It was all isolation rooms. We ran out of PPE. We were using cloth patient gowns as PPE and reusing the same N95 for a week. During one of my 16 hour shifts, I found a brand new box of the blue gowns! Yay! I brought it to the RN who was on the other hall (we shared a nursing station). She told me to put it back because I found it in the nurse manager's office and she "Didn't know what they were being saved for". She wouldn't let me use the PPE.
I ended up filing a complaint with the BON. Hoping I did the right thing? My job is a small nursing home and often times the management wouldn't protect us or care at all that this situation happened so I felt I had to go this far. Did I do the right thing? Or was this an over reaction?

Debt paperwork
Hello!
My boyfriend and I are trying to move into our own apartment. However, he has debt from his time in the military. The renter's office said that if we could provide paperwork stating the debt comes out of his taxes (which it does), then we would be considered for an apartment.
Where would we obtain paperwork like that? Through the IRS website or through where he files his taxes? At a loss for what to look for.

When we grow, do we reach every height?
If you grow from 5'6 to 5'7, you must have been every possible height between 5'6 and 5'7 at some point. But there is an infinite number of values between those two numbers. Since at any one point you are one definite height, yet there are recurring numbers that you will have had to be at some point too, which is impossible - this boggles my mind thinking about it and I need an explanation.

Once the COVID 19 pandemic is over will everything return to the way it was prior to 2020?
Since March the pandemic certainly has changed a lot of aspects and touched nearly every part of our lives. We don't know what to expect in the next six months with any certainly as well. Will things slowly get better or is the worst yet to come. Will we have a strong second wave of infections? Either way in 18 months, or two years it will be over.
Will things then return to be the same as it had been before anyone heard of the Corona Virus or COVID 19 or will things generally be different? Will this be a water shed moment like Nine - Eleven when certain things changed forever? What long term changes to you think 2020's Pandemic will leave for the next generation?

Villain vs villain
I watch a lot of movies. I love Bond, Bourne and all the spy thrillers where the hero has a ticking clock to stop the villain from ending/ruining/controlling the world. Why has there never been a movie where two villains cross paths? It could be a great action-comedy with all the cliches. They could monologue, leave the prisoner in an easily escapable trap, have henchmen with bad aim or the idiot second in command. I think it would be awesome. Two villains trying to rule the world try and stop each other’s plans!
If there is a movie like this that I have not heard of, please tell me.

Adam Sandlers 'Jack & Jill' was fucking hilarious
This movie gets a lot of hate, alongside his other movies. While I dont think that his movies are masterpieces or anything, I do find that he has some pretty funny and underrated movies, like 'Click' (2006) for example.
Jack and Jill was hated by pretty much everyone, and I've yet to see a single positive comment about it. But honestly? Its fucking hilarious. The jokes are actually on point and really funny at times, the characters all make fun of each other/themselves, its such a light hearted and silly movie that I can't hate it. Its genuinely funny for some reason, the jokes just really click with me.
Usually I never laugh at comedy movies, but theres just something lovely and sweet about this stupid movie and its humor. I just love it. I fucking love this movie, its hilariously funny honestly.

Black Narcissus (1947) is a great non-horror horror movie.
The movie has many of the hallmarks of a horror movie, a group of nuns move to a remote, mostly abandoned former palace. There is the slightly crazy, hostile caretaker, the constant wind and night time beating of the drums, a know it all/cynical neighbor. The nuns start losing their way and questioning their choices.
If it was made today it could be viewed as psychological horror, but I don’t think that was the intention of the filmmakers. Set design and cinematography are absolutely beautiful.
Kathleen Byron plays Sister Ruth whose descent is the most obvious. Between her cheekbones and her eyes she could have just played villains for the rest of her career. She is unique unsettling appearance that is played up with lighting and make up.

What is the closest political ideology I should identify as?
Right so... I’m a little lost by what I should say when people ask what I believe. In simple terms my beliefs are: Europe should provide for itself as a continent for itself and make sure every European person from Portugal to the Caucuses has the basics and should become 1 economic power house. A military that can defend our continent should be made and that allocation of resources should be spread across Europe. Basically I see it as European socialism but I don’t think that’s a term? Any help would be really appreciated and sorry if my beliefs offend you but it’s what I believe so yeah. Thanks

The Swimmer (1968) is one of the most depressing and bizarre movies I’ve ever seen.
I randomly stumbled upon this movie 2 nights ago on the TCM channel. I didn’t think much of it at first, but after a while it sucked me in and kept me interested in what this Ned Merrill (Burt Lancaster) is doing. It’s such a weird and different movie especially for the time it came out, it really stands out. I’m so glad I randomly stumbled upon it because it really blew me away and it’s going to stick with me for the rest of my life. If you’ve seen it I’m interested in what you think of it, and if you haven’t seen it I highly recommend you treat yourself and give it a watch.

Was Ian Holm's best performance in The Sweet Hereafter?
A lot of the obits mention Alien, of course, as well as 5th Element, Lord of the Rings, even Chariots of Fire, but I feel like the best performance we got from him was in Atom Egoyan's Sweet Hereafter. So nuanced, the character was so manipulative, and he hit all the right notes. I considered him a character actor before that, but Sweet Hereafter showed me he was capable of being a lead.
I know it's a movie decently known in Canada (it frequently makes their top 10 films of all time lists), but I don't feel like enough Americans have heard of it. It also features great performances from Sarah Polley and Bruce Greenwood, as well as several Canadian character actors that have ended up in stuff like X-Files, Mutant X, Sliders, etc.
I really liked him in a lot of stuff, and I've liked him since I was a kid watching Robin and Marion, then Alien, of course, but this was the peak for me.

What is your favourite moment of a movie trailer?
Not a whole trailer, just a specific moment in a movie trailer - like an incredible musical cue that synced perfectly with the action shown on screen.
Probably my 2 favourites:
Dunkirk trailer - "Where's the bloody airforce?!" cut to Spitfires roaring past in perfect formation. Massive adrenaline rush and British patriot boner.
Creed 2 trailer - ring lights focus, music crescendos, cut to Rocky and Drago deathstaring each other, this time as trainers. Goosebumps for a huge boxing fan and fan of the earlier films.

My dream is to sail around the world. How can I turn it into reality?
So i’m 20 now and since I was like 15/16 I have really wanted to buy a sailboat and travel around. Lately i’ve been feeling the need to travel and I thought back to the sailboat idea. It would be pretty nice to combine the two and be able to sail while also seeing the world. As with almost everything in life, there’s one big problem. Money! Now i’m in college but right now i’m unsure what my major is going to be. I went in as an environmental science major but now i’m thinking psychology. Now with covid and the rise of teletherapy, I was wondering if maybe it’s possible to make my dream come true. Do you think that there’s any way I could do psychology work while out sailing for long periods of time? Do you think this is achievable or just too far fetched?

Hugging in these times?
So, I'm going to see my mum on the 1st of July. I live with my dad most the time, and I haven't actually seen my mum since January. (I do alevels in a different country with my dad). I've really really missed her and have been dying to see her for a long time. I was supposed to go and see her for my 18th but it was in April so obviously I couldn't. When I see her again, I really really want to give her a huge hug. But of course, Covid-19 is happening right now. She lives in England and there's a lot more cases there than here. I also have to self isolate for 14 days, so can I not hug her for 2 weeks? I know I don't have Covid (there are about 5 cases in the region I live) and she's been careful too. If I hug her when I see her will we get told off and taken to a quarantine facility?

Serpico (1973) is inspiring and more relevant than ever
I first heard about this film through the episode of it’s always sunny in Philadelphia where Charlie dresses up as Frank Serpico and produces a tape “4 da mare”. I thought it was a funny episode, so I eventually watched the film itself.
Al Pacino shines in almost everything he’s in but his performance as Frank was outstanding. He’s prepared to do what is right over what is easy and suffers as a result, we truly get a sense of the turmoil Frank is put through, he loses his girlfriend because of how depressed he becomes, his life is threatened, everyone he turns to either doesn’t listen to him or is turning a blind eye. But he remains committed to exposing the corruption he sees blatantly happening in front of the police’s eyes, because he’s a clean cop through and through and believes in the fundamental ideals of the police. Pacino drives this character study in a performance that shows pain, determination and anger.
I think it’s an excellent film. It says that doing the right thing takes more effort especially when everyone else is doing the opposite and swaying you constantly to go the other way. It’s immensely satisfying to see him finally testify in front of the cameras toward the end, after everything he’s gone through. I know Frank Serpico was a real cop but I don’t know much of his real story, but the film is still gripping nonetheless

'A Prophet' (2009): Deer Scene
I just watched A Prophet (Jacques Audiard) for the first time yesterday, and loved it. I really dug how epic the film felt (in terms of its scope and runtime) while at the same time feeling really personal and intimate. Malik as a character goes through a lot of development throughout his six years in jail. Audiard creates a deeply flawed character, yet we're still able to care about him. It's one of the most unique and unconventional "coming-of-age" stories.
I was impressed by how complex the narrative was, featuring numerous side characters, especially when he gets to leave the prison for a short amount of time. Furthermore, none of these characters feel extraneous; every subplot/side character serves a purpose in Malik's growth as a person, whether it's the scene on the airplane that reveals his inner-childlike self, his friendship with Ryad, or even the last "leave" where he gains the upper-hand by not murdering Cesar's boss. Even the inmate he kills in the beginning of the film stays in the film as a ghost haunting Malik's subconscious.
There's one thing I'm still a little confused about though, and it's the deer scene during a prison leave. Earlier, he has a dream where he sees the road sign, and then he sees in a real life and accurately predicts a deer running into their car. Like some of the dream sequences, it kind of adds a surreal feeling to the images and story, which I thought was kind of interesting given how grounded most of the film was. Given the name of the film, we only see two instances (or the two that I can think of on the top of my head) of a character being prophetic, one being a random soccer game, and the other being this deer sequence.
However, I'm still unsure of what the deer actually represents in Malik's journey or the film itself. I'm interested in hearing if others have their own theories on what this means in this film!

What is a movie you love but wouldn't recommend to other people
Some examples for me:
-
Assassination of Jesse James - beautifully shot but super boring to most people
-
Before Midnight / Sunset / Sunrise trilogy - brilliant movies imo but most people just don't want to see two people talking for a whole movie
-
Primer - crazy time travel movie but super hard to follow. Like way too hard to follow if you understood this movie the first time you saw it you're a liar.
-
Eyes Wide Shut - to me this movie is essentially Kubrick showing us right before our eyes that rich and powerful people run sex trafficking rings but if you don't get that subtext it's just a bizarre and strange movie that is nice to look at

Commercial only shown in theaters (1999, horror montage of people screaming in cars)?
Looking for a commercial that came out in 1999. It was a horror movie montage of people screaming inside their cars while Krueger/Jason-esque monsters, villains, etc. were trying to get them. I think the commercial was advertising the safety of a certain car line/brand, but I can't remember.
The main thing I remember is sitting in a theater full of other kids, waiting to see Inspector Gadget, when suddenly that commercial came on. You could have heard a pin drop afterward. Scared the hell out of everyone. Wouldn't mind seeing it again after all these years.

Question! Find the movie....
So there was a movie i watched like 7-10 years ago but can't remember the name of the movie. Its an Hollywood/American movie as far as i remember.
So the plot was about a guy who wanna act in a drama or some kind of play gets 2 friends. These two friends are one boy and a girl both are best friends to each other i guess. And lives next to each other or in the same neighborhood.
So there comes a time when the boy and girl both gets attracted to the guy and starts teasing him in their own way, sometimes later the boy gives him a bj in the pool (maybe I'm not sure) and the girl also does something (i don't remember) so the guy gets confused about his sexual desires and all 3 ends up sleeping together. And the girl says that the boy is not homosexual but its just that he's confused and attracted to him, and later it turns out that way. As far as I remember the ending was they going their own ways and later finding that guy practicing scripts for a play outside of a drama hall or something.
So can you find/guess this movie? Thank you.

¿Is there any "secret language" in English?
In Spanish we have "the P language". To speak this, you have to add a syllable after each syllable of each Word. That added syllable always have to start with "P", and the vowel you will use has to be same vowel of the corresponding syllable. For example: "A-mi-go" in the P language would be: "A-pa-MI-pi-GO-po" "Bienvenido a mi casa, amigo" in the P language would be: BI-pi-EN-pe-VE-pe-NI-pi-DO-po A - pa MI - pi CA - pa - SA -pa A-pa-MI-pi-GO-po.

I think I might of had depression but I also worry there’s nothing wrong with me and I waste peoples time.
I’ve been wondering if I had depression when I was younger (8-11 years old) as I was always putting myself down and having suicidal thoughts, as I thought my parents divorce was my fault and how I was the reason they hated each other, alongside me thinking i was: fat, dumb, autistic(I was being tested for dyspraxia) and I was questioning my sexuality so basically I felt like I was overall useless. You get the point. This went on for a while just getting worse and worse until I felt like my only way out was suicide.
But I just don’t know as I’ve never had therapy or a diagnosis or anything and I’ve not felt like that for a while.
What do you think?
Edit: I’m fine now this was a while ago

The first electric car was electric back in late 1880s, but the economy depends so much on gas electric cars aren't a thing.

Why doesn’t anyone talk about the weird incestuous relationship in The Godfather 3?
Anytime anyone discusses The Godfather 3, they complain about how bad the acting was. How do you not think the scenes between Mary and Vincent were weird? It’s cringeworthy & I don’t understand the purpose of them putting it in the movie. They could’ve gone with a regular non-incestuous cheesy romance or anything but that. Edit: Obviously I just watched this movie & reddit is a place for questions. If you have an issue, then don’t reply…
